FFA Head if the A-League, Damien DoBuhun declined to answer why natural justice hasn't been instituted.

I suspect that their contracts with their 'partners' and 'stakeholders' like Hatamoto and Police, does not allow them to institute natural justice (as that would divulge their internal processes).

"Guilty until you prove to us that you are innocent", that's what he is basically saying. FFA created this mess, and DBB is currently carrying the can for it. I can't see the attitude change with him at the helm, and his post-game interview yesterday confirmed it. He needs to go. Football in general and the HAL in particular can do much better, and deserves much better.

Is there any wonder that Gallop said nothing of substance. It's obvious who pays the bills.

1. refusal to move time of Sydney vs Perth in scorching hot conditions > affects Foxtel scheduling > 50% owned by NewsCorp
2. refusal to address Daily Telegraph's breach of privacy and slurring of fans by Her Royal Slyness > owned by NewsCorp

They are clearly more used to thinking with their wallets and don't want to jeopardize their broadcast rights money by arcing up to the big end of town.

Yellow Army can confirm that a meeting is being organised by a third party, between the representatives of all active supporter groups and FFA CEO David Gallop and Head of the A League Damien DeBohun.

This meeting will be held on Wednesday evening, where current issues will be discussed and hopefully addressed.

We have been communicating with leaders of the other active supporter groups in order to go into this meeting with clear objectives and expectations of what is required from the FFA in order to come to a resolution. These objectives are consistent across all fan groups as is our commitment to co-operating with everyone involved in order to find a solution.

The FFA has been aware of these issues for a number of years and we have only reached this point with the support of the fans who have supported the push for change; an improvement in leadership and improved decision making from the FFA. We will continue to stand up for our rights and the rights of every person who attends an FFA sanctioned event.
The outcome of Wednesday's meeting, and subsequent actions will be dependent solely on FFA's willingness to address those issues fully.

One thing is certain. Change will only come about through unity of the fans.

This is not about avoiding punishment for those who do wrong. We don't want or expect special treatment, simply fairness.

If the FFA cant fix this quickly (and their track record suggests that they cant), another round of boycotts that includes WSW v Victory should get them to buckle.

We're seeing movement, and coordination of the message around "This is not about avoiding punishment for those who do wrong. We don't want or expect special treatment, simply fairness." is important.

This ensures that people can separate out the issues of whether there ought to be a banning process (there should), whether it should be strictly applied (again, it should) and whether there's a problem with how it's currently administered (there is).

I choose to be an optimist, and think that given this is pretty much the first time that fans have properly coordinated and forced the FFA to respond, that it might be the start of a proper fans' movement, perhaps similar to the Football Supporters' Federation in the UK.

It might help strengthen weaker fan groups through building engagement with stronger groups, and also help some of the more... troubled... groups to learn that constructive engagement is a better solution than simply bristling at authority (waves to two fan groups in particular).

Kosmina: A-League fans have gone too far


Former Socceroo and Fox Sports pundit, John Kosmina, has accused active football supporters of holding the game to ransom following their boycott of A-League matches this weekend.

In a column for the Adelaide Advertiser, Komina said fan groups had gone too far.

Active support bays were largely empty this weekend as the campaign for greater procedural fairness for banned fans ramped up.

A number of players, coaches and club bosses have come out in support.

In the wake of widespread discontent, Football Federation Australia agreed to improve the current process which gives banned fans no recourse to appeal.

The issue hit crisis point after News Limited named and shamed 198 banned football fans.

Fans were subsequenely labelled thugs and terrorists in the media.

Kosmina said he admired the peaceful mass walk-outs by Wanderers and Victory fans last week which “galvanised” the FFA into action.

But the former Adelaide United and Sydney FC coach opposed the follow-up boycott.

“…how far are these active support groups going to take it?” he asked. “This week’s boycotting of matches has gone a step too far for me.

“Just as the PFA did in the Matildas’ pay dispute a few months ago, these groups are now holding the game to ransom to get their way.

“You now have supporter groups in conflict with the FFA, when the real beef should be with the person or persons that published the story in the first place.”

Kosmina said the FFA should have reacted more quickly to a series of anti-football fan pieces in the media but added that nearly 85% of banned fans had been pinged for “throwing flares or violent behaviour”.

“The FFA’s policy of zero tolerance in matters of this severity is correct and can’t be varied," he added.

"The process of banning a fan in itself is not a simple you would think. There are checks and balances to make sure the right person is punished for the right reasons.

“But because of the actions taken these past seven days this will all be reviewed and maybe the fans will realise a bit of self-policing might be in order.”

Just a heads up - an a hugely defamatory allegation was made on Soccer Stoppage Time this evening that is not to be repeated in ANY format under ANY circumstance on this forum. Life bans etc for those that break this. Please be warned.
