Preliminary Final: Adelaide United v Queensland Roar

It's on Saturday, so here's the take.

Adelaide United may have got the worst out of themselves following the dreadful debacle in Melbourne. And Melbourne have been the only side to win at Hindmarsh, and one of only three to have left Adelaide with any points at all.

On the other hand, Queensland Roar are in red hot form and tend to do well on the road. They were one of the three teams to have gained a point at least at Hindmarsh with the Mariners of course being the other.

If Queensland do make it to the Grand Final, they would stand a very good chance of knocking off Melbourne.

However, you get the feeling that if Adelaide United really did get the worst out of themselves, they might end up being a different proposition on Saturday and in the Grand Final should they make it.

Backed Adelaide NOT to win in 90 mins - 1 goal in this IMHO. If Qld can hold them out for the 1st 20 mins or so they should do it.

Crowd figure will be fascinating

if adelaide lose, they are truly the north sydney bears of the A-League.

Or Cronulla. Or even St George.

no, because cronulla and st george both at least make the grand finals to then be beaten. and st george have actually won quite a few of them.

the bears on the other hand made the finals some 19 times but only made the big one three times, including four preliminary final losses in the 90s alone.

ahh the Champions League Qualification Playoff. Winner gets to lose to Melbourne next week. Don't know who I prefer, I could not stand Frank Farina making a Grand Final, but an Adelaide loss could result in another fantastic press conference.

With the way Adelaide's defence is looking, Queensland should do this.

Youth League GF on at 3:00pm our time, live on FOX.

Should be a good one, Sydney FC's impressive youth team up against Adelaide United who've given them a good run for their money in the Youth League.

Sydney's Youth League side has just about all the young players who played in the A-League, namely Gan, Danning, Grant, Golec, Jurman and Payne.

Adelaide United have an overaged player in Valkanis starting.

Sydney 2- 0 Adeliade

Haydar (21') and Mileski (77') getting the goals for Sydney, Payne sent-off in injury time for a cynical challenge
