Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

How many of these players do you see in the first team regularly over the next two seasons.

If I could answer that I'd be getting paid as a scout.

Numbers - hard to say - 1 or 2 (as (a) some are only 18, b) there is a high attrition rate as some blossom and some stagnate, c) we have to sign them first).

Who? - I have no crystal ball.  Many have areas of their game to develop more, and who knows whether they will.

The prospects?

Mathew RYAN (gk), Jerry KALOURIS, Bernie IBINI-ISEI, Panny NIKAS, Brady SMITH (maybe), Nick FITZGERALD, Matthew LEWIS, Mitchell MALLIA. I don't rate SHERLOCK

The reality?  I don't see an 18yo Harry Kewell or Zjelko Kalac among them.

Kev,

The prospects are from the weekend game or season?

What about 2 or 3 others that have not played or injured?

Sherlock is not one you rate?

What about the other CB?

If you have watched all games this season you would see there are others you have not mentioned that are consistant and have played at a higher level that the young boys.

I watched the game on the weekend and not many impressed me, this team of 6 to 7 first grade players sould have destroyed the young team of Jets. And let me say we got away with luck at teh end. The other top 4 teams would have finished us off with the football we played on the weekend against the Jets.

I have watched only 6 games this season. That is what I base my personal opinion comments on.

I did not see yesterday's game - flat on my back sick.

Giannaros is a big strong lad who will probably become a good NSW Premier League player but I don't rate him as a HAL prospect. From the games I've seen our defence (except for Ryan) has been dodgy all year. In fact I am not impressed with our play, and we have got by on OA players and the individual efforts on a few.

Read my reports at http://back-of-the-net.com/2009-2010/NYL/NYL09.htm if you want more detail on my opinions.

Then again, I didn't rate Bruce Djite when he was 17.

having watched most of the games this season (home and away) i believe that only panny has the goods and maybe bernie if his current rate of improvement continues

not certain about the size and strength of ryan but i know john crawley rates him as the best goalkeeper he has ever coached

Ryans awareness and all round composure marks him out as one to watch. Panni (obviously), Bernie maybe.

Get 2 a year up into the seniors and you are probably close to perfection from a yoof set up TBH

Matic wouldnt ever be picked over Ryan, the kid is just a 1 off freak. That isnt putting Matic down at all, its just that he is up against someone who could go all the way.

To be completely fair, the way the flare was ripped meant that there was never any danger to life or property.

Sadly, it was really obvious and gave the security guards the opportunity to throw everyone out.

Sneakier people (such as the GGA) tend to rip flares in crowds when security isnt looking and half their fun is watching them run around freaking out to find the culprit (easy to spot, they wear burberry, gga merch and/or scum scarves usually).

i met Mitchell Mallia today...at a petrol station
Bought 2 red bulls :p
I congratulated him for the Newcastle win, and asked him for his name (since he was wearing a Mariners youth shirt)...he replied Mitchell lol
But a nice guy for sure!
Didnt seem to have an ego on him either (from the 3.5 mins that I saw of him :p)
(after I congratulated on him playing vs Perth!)
