ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Matildas - AFC Womens Asian Cup

I only caught the second half but the attack from us wasn’t great. Send it to Sam and hope. Individual performances papering over cracks that were there to see in the Olympics.

So will Staj get further than the Matildas?
Hope so, I think there are some big issues within the Matilda’s and it’s been pretty quiet around the leaks about six months ago around the culture.

I haven’t been impressed with how they play for some time. We are good enough against the minnows and well behind the top 5 teams.

Suspect the World Cup is too close for any dramatic improvements as well.

Management changes without serious changes within the squad wont achieve enough. Everything pointed towards some senior & key players being at the heart of cultural issues but FA isnt brave enough to tackle it. Let it go too long now and they need to decide if they persist with their head in the sand or roll the dice on long term change. I think they'll push through for the world cup and then you'll see some retirements or omissions.

Sorry but not too much on Matildas' failure.Team culture possibly a big factor and the coach not strong enough to counter the influence of certain leaders in the team.

Congrats to Staj-semifinals and WC qualification.

In a woke world, criticism will be met with accusations of homophobia and patriarchy.
Journos aren't game understandably.
The culture that stopped Staj doing what needed to be done is still in that dressing room by the look of it
Of course it is, after De Vanna's allegations it was just swept under the carpet and we were told it would be investigated. There has been no obvious changes to the team or culture since nor anything at all from the investigation. This result was definitely coming.

You are dead right in that this is a very touchy subject. It will not be fixed unless they rip off the band aid, it will be dreadfully painful at first however will die down over time and then hopefully the squad has a new and revived culture that will bring them success again.

Precisely why FA has tried to kick the can down the road until after the World Cup next year. Unfortunately it looks like they may have left themselves no room to address this most recent failure between then and now.
