ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

He was a wing back in Germany (or at least they tried to turn him into one).

Has great athletic ability for it but touch is not great and I am not convinced he could deliver a decent cross or an incisive forward pass.

A lot of players need to spend huge slices of the off season going back to absolute basic ( like first touch, crossing, dribbling etc) Players like Santalab and Craig Johnston used to practice for hours alone or with a keeper perfecting their skills, thats how they became so good. Unfortunately the players these days make the A League go to the assigned sessions and thats it. The off season would be perfect for personal development for the players….

What do you mean? When he was at the Mariners? During the season? Off-season?
Josh Nisbet spent some of the international break getting expert striker tips – now the Ross County midfielder is setting his sights on hitting the net against Motherwell.

I believe he was also getting private coaching in Australia to work on other stuff before this, while at the Mariners, as well

So are you saying he had to go out and get private coaching himself while under contract as a professional footballer? If that’s the case, isn’t that a bit amateur hour? Why would he even have that much spare time during the season, and why isn’t the club already providing that level of development for all players? And if there’s “extra” coaching needed, surely the club should be organising it – not leaving it up to the player to sort out on their own. It really brings up a lot of questions. 🤔

I'm saying he chose to upskill in his spare time at his own expense in a 1 on 1 setting.

Lots of professionals do extras.

No different to getting extra physio with a private practice and not just the club.

Lots of ex mariners go back to their former physio when in town.

Ex mariners going back to their former trainer is a bit different to a fully employed pro footballer having to get their own "extra" coaching though?
