ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariner stuff not worthy of a whole thread

Not sure if this has been mentioned on any other threads but I hear that Monty has now taken on the role of Head Academy Coach and has a Portuguese assistant working with him.

Ray Junna and the two guys Mulvey bought in from the AIS have left the club and Monty will assume the role of coaching mentor to all Academy coaches. I can only see this as being a big positive for our development system, which will hopefully restore some faith in the pathway after some pretty ordinary years.

Hopefully Monty's much clearer connection to the first team will help Academy players get a go at first team level. I'm not too sure of Monty's ability as a coach but, from the sounds of it, he will be at least better than Junna and co.

So apparently Wellington have been fined $942,000 for not meeting their metrics.
I find that f**king insane. I’d be livid if I was connected to them.
Imagine if we got that kind of fine?!
We’d fold instantly. Unless they get a fee for Krishna, they’re going to be weaker than us on the pitch because of their finances now. Making it even harder to meet their metrics.

The FFA should giving the clubs that kind of money to help build the f**king league not destroy the clubs.

WHAT. A. TIME. TO. BE. ALIVE.

It's insane, and frankly Wellington did more last season to develop young Australian players and coaches through giving them proper opportunities than nearly every other A-League club.

My biggest issue with the whole metrics thing for nix is they are expected to meet targets that very few teams here are hitting and they are the ones with huge populations behind them. As a whole the league is down on attendance and massively so on viewership, for the FFA to expect more from Wellington while they have been asleep at the wheel is mind boggling and massively hypocritical.

Ahh, so metrics is crowds and shit.....Fark moi , how have we not got a fine for $9,000,000 by now

How do you make everyone love the nix?

Get the FFA to hate them:piralaugh:

The FFA must be going what. Everyone hated them and wanted them out of the league 12 months ago. So we’ve fined them trying to force them out and now everyone loves the nix and hates us.

Personally I like the nix and someone has to come last. It’s just our turn now. If they could play in a square stadium they might be even more fun. They pay the bills that’s all you really need. They are pretty entertaining and I don’t get the kick them out feeling some people have

WAIT WAIT..I got it figured ...the f**kin Fools Association are fining the Nux so they can come close to offering Frank Ribery anything close to the money he warrants for a stint with one of the new teams ....
All conspiracy theorists queue to the left ...cheers

Personally, I’ve always wondered why it’s Australian sports responsibility to help NZ sport. (Ofcourse the Anzac bond is huge) Football, league and basketball.
Particularly with the Nix, say they do put together that magical season and win the league.. they can’t even play ACL as NZ is Oceania. So really, they’re a very limited club in terms of what’s theoretically achievable. Then there’s the minor annoyance of every Nix home game with their way too biast commentators who don’t even bother knowing much about opposing teams. And it must be infuriating for kiwis when NZ’s only pro team signs Aussie players, it’s their only job to breed nz talent, in theory they shouldn’t have any Aussie on their books.

But in all of those personal annoyances, they do always seem to have 1 or 2 extremely exciting attackers on their books.
Krishna’s form has been a football god send to the league.

In all honesty, the Nix should be punted in favour of an Australian club. We owe nothing to NZ, I want to see the pyramid widened for Australian sides

I think they bring improved competition in all sports. The net of available players is wider.

The time zones also work well for them playing at prime time but that being the early game here.

As for ACL who cares. We still get the same allocation and they miss out not us.

Also it’s not like our SFC or WSW commentators are any good either. I quite like there commentators both for A League and RL (especially the ABC radio). The fact they are unashamedly biased is something i like. It’s better than Slater pretending.

Anyway agree to disagree but I’m a fan of the NZ teams

That’s sums up my thoughts/feeling perfectly. I like the Nix. The only issue against them i have is playing ball with the AFC. They do not hold back our expansion (that’s the FFA’s job apparently) so I don’t see why it gets positioned as being an either or with having an additional Australian club by some people.

They cost more than any other team due to travel and generate next to no TV income. Clearly the accountants (FFA) don’t like this situation especially with the next TV deal looking shaky. I don’t care much for them to be honest, wonder when their four years is up. I suspect they will be gone and the license transferred to Oz.

The contribute no more cost to travel than Perth does. They generate a fair amount of income, at the very least they provide opposition to an Australian club every week and some of our games against the Phoenix were actually our best rating last season. They also provide some extra cash through their deal with Sky Sports NZ.
