It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Anyone here play FIFA19 and notice that Aiden O’Neill is the only player that actually looks like himself in our team?

Clearly the developers spend alot more time on Epl players than they do of Aleague players

EA has never cared about the A-League and the player models barely change year to year. Extremely disappointing considering that we have our own regional marketing etc, surely it wouldn't be that hard to properly model our players? At least they are getting better at having a player photo for nearly all our players. It's stuff like this that really hurts the A-League, why would a young kid pick to play with one of our teams when the EPL etc look so much better and have personalised commentary? Stuff like that is how we turn casual fans into real supporters. Would be a decent idea for the FFA to chip in a small sum from the marketing budget to create an incentive for EA to give us some of this personalised stuff. Would be cool to have Simon Hill or some of the Fox crew as A-League commentators and maybe model a couple of stadiums.

We've had some better performances since then but we were rubbish against the roar. We didnt hold them as much as Taggart threw it away with a terrible conversion rate on some great chances. Every now and again there's an article about him being an option for the socceroos and I have to laugh. Averaging a goal per game is good but not if you're taking a heap of shots including some sitters.

That’s nothing compared to Kossie on shootoit last night.

'The graveyard of the A-League' - Kosmina slams Mariners
Josh Thomas

Winless and hopeless?

Two months ago, Central Coast Mariners were stealing the headlines as Usain Bolt trialled with the club and new coach Mike Mulvey did his best to convince everyone he could turn their fortunes around.

Just seven rounds into the season however and it's business as usual for the Mariners, who sit bottom of the A-League without a win and on a five-match losing streak.

To make matters worse, they've conceded the most goals while scoring the fewest to highlight a lack of quality across the pitch.

Former Adelaide United coach John Kosmina has subsequently slammed the club for not investing enough in their squad and suggested they have now become the A-League's graveyard.

"Mike Mulvey talks a lot about their mindset but I think it goes deeper than that, it’s something now that’s endemic in the club," Kosmina said on Fox Sports' Sunday Shootout.

"It’s just been a succession now of failed seasons and they probably suffer from this - there’s no punishment for failure.

"They can afford to chop and change, they go the minimum spend, they do it on a budget, it’s like cheap as chips for football. If they want to be a decent team they have to invest.

"The Mariners now are almost like the graveyard of the A-League - it’s where you go when you’ve got nowhere else to go, a last resort and that’s sad to say."

Four of the club's starting 11 from Friday night's loss to Western Sydney Wanderers were aged over 30 with two of those, Matt Simon and Michael McGlinchey, back with the club after stints elsewhere.

While enduring a difficult start to his tenure in charge of the Mariners, Mulvey is refusing to back down ahead of a crunch clash against Wellington Phoenix.

"If you haven’t got hope, what have you got?" Mulvey said.

"We need a confidence builder and that comes from winning.

"We need to address our deficiencies which we’re trying to do on a daily basis. I see committed guys at training giving the best they can. We’ll keep battling away."

If that doesn't motivate the players and coaching staff nothing will. Would be great to shove that statement back if things change.

Motivation is not the problem. The problem is old age, chronic injuries, or lack of ability and skill.

Or a combination of all of the above

So true - I watched Taggarts break out season closely, A lot of very lucky goals. And knew he would be found out as soon as went OS. And he was. And as soon as he got a call up, and he was. Now he’s back and scoring and I haven’t been following him closely, so I’m trying to reserve judgement - but no way is he the answer for the Roos.

Can't really argue with Kossie. He also says it in a way that isn't just bashing the club for the sake of laying the slippers in. Other commentators could learn a thing from that.
