ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariner stuff not worthy of a whole thread

Actually that's the one thing they did do for us. The regulations had a 12 month minimum so they broke those, and paused the suspension to allow him to play in international games

. well the international games would have been of no benefit for us, in fact, you could argue any pause would negatively impact us further ... the FFA on the other hand

. but wasn't it overruled by FIFA anyway preventing Danny from going to the Olympics (or something similar)

Yes it was overruled by FIFA who banned him from the Olympic's.

Vuka's punishment (9mnths) from the FFA was so out of proportion to his offence (1st time) it was ridiculous to the extreme.

Whereas O'Donovan ...
O'Donovan boot to face.jpg
.... gets 10 weeks for a boot to the face

.... after ...
O'Donovan headbutt.jpg
..... headbutting for a first offence.

As I said
- disproportionate to the extreme for a 'hand to hand' slap.

The FFA have ALWAYS had it in for us !!

Those comparisons are completely pointless. At the time of Danny's offence, the only suspension category it fit under, was 12 months. He got less than the mandatory minimum. We all know Griffiths should have copped longer - and Berisha's push on the 4th was worse than what Danny did and copped far, far less, but ultimately the FFA did break their own regs which helped us.

No, but it would benefit one of our players (and arguable would benefit us from his increased experience)

Griffiths didn't cop anything! Coz he was the only decent thing about Scum at the time and he wasn't a Mariners player......protected.

Like Rowdy says, The FFA have never ever done anything to help us. That is why I keep my 50c Flute in my top drawer.

If Danny didn't get that suspension he'd probably be the Socceroos #1 right now. Massive stretch but you'll never know.

Danny's goal kicks & out of his hands are nowhere near the quality of Matty Ryan's.

Matty's playing out from the back, the skills encompassing 'recieve/control/switch & kick' - either on the deck or through the air, elevate him another level again.

Love Vuka, always will - but despite earning his recent call up & spot in the WC squad, he still needs to keep working hard to improve, to even clinch the #2 spot off Brad Jones or Adam Federicci.

...... although with Jones' recent dumb move to the Arab Gulf & Danny's former Coach & admirer (in Arnold) now the Socceroo's Boss - might make his move to a reg #2 spot a lot more likely ;)

The big difference is that Vuka`s offence was against the referee, O`Donavan`s offences were to other players.
As I`ve said before Vuka should have been pulled into line at least 12 months before,he gradually built up to offending against the referee and therefore he got what he deserved....

While there is an large element of truth in that the problem is with Shields reactions during that season. The previous week Milligan repeatedly poked Shields in the chest and did not even get a yellow - he was just waved away. It is almost certain that Shields was advised to change that element of his refereeing after that game. If so, and if there was going to be such a departure from treatment during the year, then the teams should have been advised.

He claimed to be unsighted, when he looked to be in prime position. Then he did not listen to one of his ARs who said he had a good view and it was a clear handball. He testified against Vuka then he slunk away never to ref again before months later apologising to Lawrie.

Never forget the shit treatment we have received over the years.
