For the record, at the same games that the Human Mack Truck Big Ben ran 9.79 in Seoul, the American Florence Griffith-Joyner won the 100m-200m double. She broke both world records, they have NEVER been beaten. She was dead less than 10 years later, a death attributed to an undiagnosed Heart condition and YEARS of steroid abuse.

Waiting on appropriate gender testing processes.

However, latest press reports do state that the athlete was tested prior to these Championships and found to have a testosterone level 3 times the average for a female, yet allowed to compete.

South Africa is running the patriotic and political flag up very high for this athlete and I do hope, for their sake, that the Athlete is not found to have been a participant (willingly or unwillingly?) of years of doping (which it does look like - you don't go from looking feminine to masculine overnight, in one batch of illegal steroid or hormonal dosing).
