If Adelaide moved the GF from Hindmarsh, Football Park in West Lakes would be the obvious choice.

Adelaide Oval DOES NOT have SACA commitments that weekend (the Redbacks are playing Western Australia at the WACA), BUT, it has a cricket block in the middle.

Football Park is obloid, though not as large as the massive Subi, where visiting teams AND Fremantle & West Coast ONLY pick players with huge endurance. Have a look at Google Earth, and you will see that Football Park is closer in dimensions to the MCG and the Gabba (which are, incidentally, the EXACT same size for Australian Rules).

Football Park has had extensions in recent times and has a capacity of 51515, fractionally less than Docklands & Lang Park.

IF Adelaide get the GF, and IF they move away from Hindmarsh, I reckon it's Football Park as No.1 option.

FFCM,

Yes, sadly, you are right. Football Park and Kardinia Park have been booked for that Saturday, depending on who wins the 1st Round matches between Geelong v Adelaide and Sydney v Port Adelaide. Game time would be 1710hrs AEDT if played at Football Park. Oh yes, and it is Australian Rules, tyvm, invented by a New South Welshman!!! Tardball, pffft.

Also, Docklands is also booked that afternoon. This gets interesting. Really interesting, as Docklands IS Victory's home ground, as opposed to Football Park, which is controlled by the SANFL.

Maybe the AFL could be persuaded to put the NAB Cup match back 24 hours??

does anyone else think that the gAyFL booked these venues on these dates on purpose and scheduled matches there just to screw football?

I'm sure they did - wonder if the knuckledraggers had the brains to book Suncorp?

They tend to play RL trial games in small grounds and/or in regional areas. Booking Sandcorp for a RL trial match would be a first IIRC.  The only stadium of any note booked out would be SFS/Homebush depending on who is hosting the charity shield, and I think that falls after the A-League GF.

RL doesn't really give a toss about pre-season matches, there isn't any cup to play for, so they can whore these matches out to far flung places and make a quid while still "showing their commitment to the bush".

The AFL OTOH are shit scared of football and will do everything they can to f**k us over - See Channel 7 & NSL rights.

I can't understand why the FFA don't just tell clubs at the start of the season where they can host a Grand Final. If they are hell bent on making the clubs with smaller stadia - us, Adelaide, Newcastle and Perth - relocate for a GF provide a list of approved grounds before the season begins. Don't leave it until now to tell Adelaide they have to move.

I have wondered what would happen if AU won the right to hold the grand final, where would they hold it.

Hindmarsh you would assume. Maybe aami if it gets moved to friday night.
If we win the right to host it it will be at bluetongue since no other nsw team in it. Though if we were playing melbourne i would not rule out the ffa moving it to the dome, which would be a massive slap in the face

Because if it's say CCM vs Welly, the match may sell out newy for only a few more thousand tickets (And it's copping lick of paint so capacity is down) but would be a disaster at the SFS or Homebush.

Last years GF didn't sell out and should have served notice to the FFA that the only time moving Grand Finals away from Newy or Bluetounge will work is if it is against Sydney.

I would lead an armed insurrection if that happened.

I think the FFA will say 35k instead of 20/25 means it did work. But if us/ewy were playing anyone else we would play at bluey/EA.

Would we? I wouldn't put it ast the FFA to say 'neautral ground' and put it at SFS.

And have no one there? They wont. Sydney cant get 10k to their own games. I would be more worried that if we player syd/melb/qld we would most likely be going there for a home GF. If well were in oz there too. GC may have this problem in the future, surely not NQ? Though i wouldnt put it past the FFA
