ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Smacks to me he has massivly underestimated the standard here and was under the impression it was going to be a cake walk? Any thoughts?
My thoughts are, if he has massively underestimated the standard here why is Cullina finding it to be like a boy in a lolly shop? The ease with which he completely dominates displays the difference in quality. He isn't just not in the same league, he isn't on the same planet as his opposition. Similar but not to the same level can be said of Porter or the Ivory Coast kid. They are streets ahead. The big difference to Fowler's performance is the quality of players around them allowing them to show their wares, not his underestimation of the league or an inferior ability. He would struggle in his prime with reception from what is a very average to poor level aleague squad around him.
If anything, it was an overestimation of the standard of his own team and the difference he could make as a quality striker reliant on an ordinary squad.

To his kick, if it was intentional it was a damn good shot with his back to the player and his head turned in the opposite direction while doing a head stand. Careless is how I'd describe it and definitely worthy of a yellow.

its as you said curious. fowler is no fool, he knew what the league would be like. without the players around him to complement him, he will we a trerrible waste at NQL.

similar situation as aloisi imo. when he was with us, we played to his strengths and he was good. went to sydney, didnt get the service and lost some confidence, hence he was terrible 1st year.

imagine him at GCU or Roar
cant imagine him doing it deliberately, but it sure looks it
should have been yellow, in the least to make a point

Can be explained quite easily....Cullina is on the way up....Robbie is on the way down circle of life mate!

Can be easily explained if 'on the way down' factually means he isn't any longer up to being dominate in this league with the team around him that Cullina has. Put Cullina in the Fury squad & he would be the frustrated one. Vise versa for Fowler.
Be careful a disdain for Fowler isn't seen to be clouding an impartial judgement. Human nature mate.

Fowler was a great player no question!

Culina is 29 Robbie is 34

I disagree with the assumption that Culina would be frustrated given the same scenario, he runs the midfield so has a greater control over the game whereas poor old Robbie has to rely on getting some ball so that is what is leading to the frustration. Also surely even his most ardent admirer would agree that his career is winding "down" whereas Culina's is still right there?

I think Mike Cockerill hit the nail on the head last night. Fowler cannot play the lone striker role. He needs to play behind a point man where he can get involved in midfield and run from deep in attack.

Absolutly he is wasted as a lone point guy they need him using all his guile and experience creating things not hangin' around hoping something will come off!
