Fowler

Hey guys, what is everybody's take on the rather unsavoury incident in the Fury game?
Robbie Fowler should, at the very least, have received a yellow if not a red card imo. Any other player would be in all sorts of shit! The commentators made light of it claiming he is frustrated. So what! The way they are playing he is in for more of the same from what I've seen. Smacks to me he has massivly underestimated the standard here and was under the impression it was going to be a cake walk? Any thoughts?

So by your comments am I to assume kicking the head of an opposing player is OK? And we should just harden up a bit? It was a very low act from a player who should be acting like a role model not a spoilt brat!

You honestly think that Robbie Fowler tried to kick him in the head? He was flipped over lost balance and to be fair probably didnt know where he was as he was in a compromising position.
There was nothing wrong with it as it wasn't deliberate.

Yes, I honestly think he tried to kick that annoying Brazilian shit in the head and he should have received a red card for it.

It was not one fluid motion as he fell backwards and actually changes direction to kick the guy.

However, for the sake of football and the negative publicity it would have brought I am glad he didn't get sent. That ref should be hired by the FFA's marketing department.

It looked to me as though he was trying to rebalance himself. He was on the verge of falling on his face and he tried to kick his legs back the other way to stop the momentum.

Praise the lord!

If the same incident had happened while we were playing them I think the majority on this forum would want Fowler's head!

Suspended
Watch it in real time, not the slowed down replays that fox kept showing. Accident nothing more. The guy looked like a twat getting swatted out of the way and tried to regain his feet quickly. Wasn't very good contact anyway, no blood drawn. With an intentional kick to the head you would expect blood at least.

from 442 website

NORTH Queensland Fury marquee Robbie Fowler has escaped sanctions following his ugly clash in the match against Gold Coast United on Saturday night.
The former Liverpool striker seemed to kick out at Anderson with his boots while on the ground, striking the Gold Coast player on the body.

But the Independent Review Panel won't take action against Fowler as the incident "did not escape the attention of the referee at the time", and the MRP says it therefore has no authority to intervene.

However, in another incident in the same match, Gold Coast United's Steve Pantelidis has been suspended for two matches for 'violent conduct' against North Queensland's Robbie Middleby.

Pantelidis has until 12 noon on Tuesday to appeal the ban.

Right result if you view the video as Scottmac said

Even more convinced it was deliberate. He twists towards Anderson and flays both legs forwards and backwards a number of times towards the player. That is defintely not momentum.

Anyone who thinks it was not deliberate is kidding themselves!

Or so in love with Robbie they can't bring themselves to think "GOD" would do such a thing!

I agree, there's no way momentum would put him in that position, as stated earlier, if it was anyone else they'd be in trouble!  It was obviously frustration from Fowler but he should have coped a suspension.
