Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

No, he made the right call, player had a sook and the chairman backed the player.

Its his team and he decides the tactics. Whether he is proved wrong or not isnt the point.

If I were him and in a situation where I wasn't getting the backing I needed, I'd be pretty pissed off. The Chairman's job is to sign the cheques and leave the football to the manager.

I guess it depends on how desperate Fergie is to hold onto the job - looking to future coaching positions I mean.
Don't know how future employers would look on a coach who quit, even though his position might be untenable.

The player reacted to the coaches poor call. It is not park footy. Fowler has more experience knowledge and title's in his pinky compared to Fergie. The human tripod should erect a statue to Fowler they would be rock rock bottom if it was not for Fowler. He is here to play footy(and he has been doing it well) not to sit on the bench. Fowler certainly aint in it for the money!!!

It doesn't matter how great a footballer is, his job is to play football. The manager's job is to manage. The manager answers to the chairman and the board and the player answers to the manager. The manager sets the terms including where and when the player shall play no matter whether it's Robbie Fowler or Beau Busch. If the player goes over the manager's head to the chairman and/or board, one or other is set for the high jump.

Let's not denigrate Fergie - a true Ranger's legend or Fowler but Fergie's domestic results are pretty impressive.

He scored in St Mirren's 1-0 win over Dundee United in the 1987 Scottish Cup final.

Nine months after winning the Scottish Cup, he transferred to Rangers for 850,000 -still the record fee received by St Mirren. He is remembered as a key Rangers player, appearing 336 times and scoring 46 goals. Along with Ally McCoist and Richard Gough, he played a part in every season of Rangers historic run of nine titles in a row. He won ten Scottish League titles, a record second only to Bobby Lennox of Celtic (who won eleven), playing in each season of Rangers' record-equaling run of nine consecutive championships between 1988-89 and 1996-97, and in the first title win under manager Dick Advocaat, in 1998-99.

Robbie Fowler

Winner
League Cup: 1995, 2001
FA Cup: 2001
UEFA Cup: 2001
UEFA Super Cup: 2001

Fergie played at a fairly high level himself you know and came from a big club.

He would have been well aware what was going on.

cant be arsed to look it up but suspect he has more medals and caps than Fowler too

Scottish Mafia!!!!!

Fowler's career for Liverpool has him up with the all time greats of LFC. his goal scoring record is outstanding. Scottish football is rubbish. He won 10 blah blah blah titles. Fowler could still play in Scotland and score goals. Fergie is a great assistant coach he can be the glue that binds the squad together but as a first team coach the pressure esspecially with GOD around is telling on him.

Hey ask Fergie yourself I seem to remember him and saying when he was substituted onto the bench for Central Coast United fawk this I am out of here!! Following week he was in the starting line up for Blacktown City..

Can you please tell our chairman this.
