ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Couldn’t offer him the money he wants. Get $50k from Blacktown and earns a six figure salary in a full time job.

Compare that to minimum wage or a scholarship at the Mariners.
To be fair I don’t just think that’s a mariners thing, it’s an Aus football thing. A player that isn’t established just isn’t worth 150-200k. You either back yourself to kick on and set your sights higher or stay semi pro and build for your life after football if you have a good opportunity off the pitch. There’s nothing wrong with either approach especially if you’re being realistic with yourself.

Farrell was released 2 year ago and was an past idea until Monty, not saying he's a past idea, but his 2 goals weren't classics, and he didn't show great skills over the ball. Not saying he doesn't have it just expect more from him

To be fair to the Butcher - he comes from a family that values education/career. He isnt going to be a football star and has a 50 year working life in front of him
Cant blame the kid

Albeit all that, he is getting serious attention from other clubs

True, maybe he was released too early ( that's my point when i mention Farrell). A judgement call was made at the time and 0I did understand it, no time, or money for maybe's back then. That being said would I give him a second chance, why not.

There's others I would have loved to see getting a second chance, never achieving the potential thrust upon them in very poor teams. My personal favourite was Bingham.

Edit: Not saying smiley was a part of a poor team. Just he was given a better chance than some.

Watching Manly v Olympic at Cromer. Best two players on the park are Jimmy Oates (Manly) and Michael Glassock (Olympic). O’Donovan is still a snake.
Jimmy Oates was one of the great could’ve beens! So sad he was cut down by serious injury back in the day.

Not sure the context of your post Huddo but Farrell asked to be released as he felt needed a break. Door was always open for him to come back if he wanted to.
