ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Different signs we could make but proberly will never!

Some Novocastrians were bound to support the right team, In genetics you luck out once in a while  ;)

Are we still doing the red card thing? Because that is something that I would love to see. It says a lot more than a banner could & everyone in the stadium will know what we are trying to say. Plus coverage on TV would be fantastic!

how does holding up a red piece of cardboard which can be interpreted different ways say more then a banner which states it specifically??

p.s i think it is a terrible idea

Celery is the 'pregnant man' of Novocastrians. Sometimes strange things happen.

Impacial or impartial?

I'm also not a fan of the red cards (and no, got nothing to do with me being a ref! :p)

Stuck trying to come up with any good banner ideas though :p

Fair enough. So what banner have you made? I'm betting you haven't made one but, even if you have, its not for everyone.

The beauty of the red card idea is that everyone can do it without stressing the grey matter and without too much effort or expense.

Now, the combination of a banner saying something like "Red card to Shield from Vukovic supporters" and the red cards ARE something that will be very effective, so I hope you're working on your banner Keensy and not just needlessly criticising Swarey's idea without actually making any effort yourself.

My point exactly. You'll probably turn up with nothing.

So you've never yelled anything at a ref during a game???? Or perhaps every time you yell at a ref he stops and considers your opinion.

I think I understand why some people might be anti the red card now...
Besides, potential ambiguity or letting sleeping dogs lie, I'm also not sure it would actually be something that would be helpful to Danny anymore...whereas 3 months ago I would have been right up for it... But now we're all pretty much trying to move on and I'm not sure it's timing is very good.

BUTTTTTT.... perhaps the red card could be looked at outside the box so to speak...
I think the Red card would definitely be worth a few hoots and pretty handy on plenty of occasions...

Some examples to consider...
Imagine the bay all had red cards last year when...

1) The sack whack took place?
2) Ufuk crippled Heff?
3) Grand final handball by Judas?

But I see it as being handy fairly often... lets say anytime... anyone fouls one of the boys... a ref makes a shocker... every time Joel Griffiths touches the ball... That sort of thing...

Make me laugh, watching the bay all stand up together Righteously brandishing a red

A red card protest against Shield would be fairly silly IMHO.

Regardless of how we think he handled/bottled the last 5 mins of the GF, he was within his rights to send him off (when a ref loses control, thats usually what they do)

Protests that might resonate could include:-

1) A brown paper bag protest against Breeze (everyone waves bags at him to imply how bent he must be)

2) A big pair of glasses for Shield (so he can spot any handballs).

Or we just abuse the living shit out of them both every time they come to BTS.

Or (what will probably happen) we just ignore their performances and accept it quietly

lol, this is a forum bex....not everyone is going to agree with everyone. Whether i have made a banner or not has no bearing on my opinion of the idea.

Also, having a banner saying "red card to shield from vukovic supporters" seems like a stupid idea to me aswell as vukovic was in the wrong, not shield....so there is no need to keep harping on about something from months ago.

If anything your anger should be directed at the FFA for the length of his suspension(note: i said "if anything", i actually think danny got off light")  and not towards shield for sending him off

Not sure what you're on about Keensy. I have no problem with anyone having an opinion and I assume that means I can have one as well. Shield was in the wrong because he missed a blatant handball that cost us a penalty that would probably have evened the score in the GF which caused Vukovic to get upset. Yes, vukovic was wrong to strike the ref. Thats all been covered ad nauseum in other threads.

Also, there aint no anger over here, but I don't see how you can sit back and let shield walk on the pitch for the first time and just sit back and do nothing. ???

i never said do nothing? i just said i dont think the red card idea is any good. Even then i would not waste my time doing anything for shields(abusive songs are different). It was months ago, he f**ked up, cant change it now, move on and focus the attention on this season.
