Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Any questions or talking points let us know :overheadl:
It's maybe more of a question for Shaun or the club on the "CCM fans and the club" thread but do we have any information on the Asian Cup U22 tournament? I believe a preliminary squad of up to 50 is due to be submitted in the next few days, so players that are in that squad may already have been informed.

We have 5 eligible players who are starting regulars (potentially 6 when Smith is fit) and another 3 regularly active off the bench (Steele, Hatch, Kuol) in one of the A-League form teams and for that reason alone should be under serious consideration for the final squad, and be almost certainties for an extended preliminary squad.

Would be great if we could get a big representation, but the only fly in the ointment is that Australia's first game in the tournament is only 4 days after the GF. Could be a potential conflict if we do go all the way to the GF

How long do you think the suspension for Penha should be?
Mate he would have to go at least 5-6 weeks.
Attacking the back of another players` head as that player was walking away.
That`s such a coward thing to do.
Roy got 8 weeks for head butt and Penha has been sent off earlier in the season but on the bright side for him Newcastle are owned by WSW, SFC, and WU so anything could happen...

Probably a bit late but we’ve had one of our best scoring seasons (2nd best I think) but how many goals have we butchered.

Cummings has no trust in his right foot and blew at least two goals and I think his one foot dominance will cost him a Socceroos spot

He got a 3 game ban for the last one about 5 weeks ago, which was downgraded to 1 game after they appealed saying it was not intentional. This one was clearly intentional so you'd think a minimum of 3 games, rest of the season basically.

Also, how did I miss that he was Dabney's brother from another mother?!!!

Did someone say WINNING POD!?

The lads recap the derby
We look ahead to the next few rounds
And, most importantly, we track how the Luke hair bet is going!

00.00-04.08 - Intro/Fred's Question
04.17-61.05 - Derby Delight!
61.28-75.36 - CCM News - including Luke's hair bet!
75.51-101.35 - Fan questions/Outro

Just listening to the pod and I’m 100% with Luke on Birraz. Best shot stopper in the league but control of the box or even the 6 yard box leaves a lot to be desired. I haven’t heard anyone mention the game vs the Wanderers where I think they scored their second goal from 2 yards out from a tap in that I still have no idea how he missed it. Again I am really happy we have him but imagine how good he could be If they could work on his command of the box.

Great poddy again gents and found I was also in 100% agreement with Luke on Boogard too. He was an absolute tool at the Jets , complaining about every decision but then dishing out double what he complained had gone against him. I wonder What’s in the water up there to make them all morons.

Top pod again guys, thank you!
Also wanted to shout out Faz on our last goal. Had the smarts to step across the Jets player and win an easy free kick in the dying minutes of the game rather than belt it clear or put it out for a throw. Separates the good players from the average in my opinion, this year has given him so much experience and it's already showing.

Too many players go too quickly. I wish more would take the Emerton approach and not leave until they have established themselves in our league.
I disagree. They need to go early enough where they can improve with better players around them before they considered to old and ride the pine.

I think Alou timed it perfectly and has had a good run in the 2nd team to show he has something. Sure the loan hasn’t been great game wise but what is he learning and picking up off other players.

Garang needs to hit the gym a bit (not to much) and should go if the offer is right for development but 1 more season at his age would be good for him. Especially if he can make the starting team next year.

The timing of offers and the clubs that they come from will always be a factor. Alou had an early offer from a club that has a good reputation for developing players. Musti was much the same.

What you don't want is for a player to go and sit on the pine
