ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I'm just a believer in the ideal that to grow the game, you need to saturate populated areas with clubs, just as the heartlands of football worldwide all have.

In any case, Sydney FC's problems prior to this season are just representative of the state of NSW as a whole. Both have perceptions of being "premier" in their field, but neither are really premier in anything meaningful.

NSW is after all a state run with a disgraceful lack of thought and vision, with Victoria, Queensland and WA all leaving it for dead in terms of services and infrastructure. Similarly, SFC is a club that showed impressive short-sightedness in many of its decisions, and only the new regime is starting to rectify it now.

I also think the second sydney team would help. Nothing like war to build solidarity.

I also suspect a lot of western sydney are snubbing SFC, (TWG has no small baring on this fact imo) For the good of the A league, a new sydney team with a foreign coach and clear NCC policy, (No celts considered) who are stating in the press, that they intend to play like Arsene Wengers illegitimate Brazilian love child and that they couldn't give a flying about winning, as long as they are playing with "style"... might just fill the gap.

I look forward to seeing more cross city rivalry. I think any football fan worldwide thrives off the local derby. For mine Melbourne Heart, Western Sydney and South Coast/Wollongong are the 3 essential clubs, with Tassie and ACT being possibilities for the final spot to even the comp up (No bye rounds). Look forward too seeing what sort of rivalries develop between these cross city clubs, as well as GC V BR. The locality of clubs should be good for crowd figures too am i right? more travelling fan's, better match day atmosphere, more one day fans becoming full timers i'd think.
