He was very inconsistent but I would’ve hoped we had made a play at him for some impact of the bench.

I think the overhype was what killed him. He showed great promise then scored THAT goal and got talked up like no tomorrow. Then rode the pine from showing poor commitment and effort

couldn’t agree more. He had 4 genuinely good games for us. Mediocre the rest.
I’d say Pacos are done with him too. He’ll be at the jets and then they’ll dump him. Portugal was perfect for him to really take off in Europe. 2 loans in one season in their lowest pro league and he struggled big time.
Pink lady seemingly right about him the whole time right now.

Monty’s done well signing Goddard. Not to jump the gun ofcourse. But it’s quality on paper. Brilliant age, good enough pedigree. Gives us a glimpse into Monty’s recruiting mind. If he can get us 1 or 2 more twenty something visas that’d be awesome.

My only concern for Goddard is he is 24, 40 odd academy games, 30 odd senior games, for only 2 goals. I hope he is a late bloomer, but I would have been happier with someone with a bit more of a goal scoring record.

We don't want this guy to score goals though. He just needs to get the ball to the right area. We've been screaming out for a guy that can deliver the ball and it seems like he could be that guy.

Definitely not a Kekeris. Will be an interesting season for him. Lovely balance and skill but ticker was a bit shakey. Could easily fade to obscurity if he doesn't put in 100%. Potentially a better player than Caceras.

Goddard looks composed and very intelligent in the final third. Looks like a good signing to me.

But defs not afraid to come infield when someone overlaps him. That goal in the highlights someone posted has him coming into the box to get second ball

this will be another year after arnold (AA)

That is true and we definitely need a player to deliver as you said but I would feel more comfortable if he was ALSO chipping in with 2 or 3 goals consistently a year as an attacking player.

If he does go to Sydney after two seasons it means we have had an awesome two seasons out of him and that is more than anyone at the club could really hope for. Such is our lot unfortunately.

Really pleased with this signing, he looks like a similar player to DDS but with more strength, better passing accuracy and attacking speed. No more DDS dribbling into dead ends and getting pushed off the ball, Goddard looks like he keeps his head up and makes a through ball pass or a cross at the end of his runs. Excited to see this guy get Urena into shooting positions regularly.

With Urena, Muller and Goddard, that's all our Visa spots used up?
