CCM v Drivebys (AKA Staj derby)

Very much an improved game from the team as a whole today and overall more positive play. To me it was shown by the off the ball movement, with more players making runs off the ball and under/over lapping. The first game where the gameplan clicked into place and we got to see it all come together.
The Wing backs sat a little further up in possession and we were able to find them in a bit of space. I think there was still a bit of poor decision making (taking a touch too many) or poor final balls played behind the player which delayed the counter or allowed their defence a second to get in a better position. Perhaps the weather, but the kind of things that a more clinical team wouldn’t do. Too many chances where we were in the right spot but couldn't get a shot away.
In the second half (before their goal anyway) we controlled the tempo quite well. Just passing the ball amongst our backs until they pressed and created a gap in the centre of the field and then moved it forward. Still a lot of times that we seemed allergic to playing with any urgency, but that seems to be by design. Our subs were also effective. Obviously Eames played most of the match, but was perhaps part of the reason for the more positive forward play. I do think Steeley had a good game, and managed a few forward runs when he was afforded the space.
Great to see Kuol get a goal, but also Edmo coming on, playing very positive and getting one as well. Hopefully they can play each other in to a bit of form.
Very winnable next 3 of 4 next games before a double in the ACL.

Good luck anyone going to the game. As someone who lives about 10 km from the stadium, I've lost track of the number of trees and power lines down and roads closed over the last 48 hours.
And then I missed the first half on the tele because half a tree came down on my neighbours and our driveway and their power!

That was an exciting second half. We were so turgid in the first half i feared the worst but we actually defended very well as a team.
We look more organised with the 442 set up and Tesco has calmed our panicky defenders right down.

The Goal keeping issue remains and I would be giving Pav another shot at Number 1.

Happy with all the defenders, although Sainsbury did poorly on their goal but i really appreciated his goal line clearance and he was unlucky not to score seconds before Edmo nutted one in. Kaltak's goal line clearance was crucial at the end. Paull is starting to look like a decent young player.

Eames and Doka did so well overall. Steele was decent and went up a level in my eyes with that goal line block. Theo was frustrating as usual but also had a good game overall and unsettled them. He was unlucky not to slot that chance.
I hope Alfie is OK.

De Lima and Kuol did a great job although DeLima was gassed by 55 mins. Great to see Alou get that goal. Hopefully he can go on a run now.

Super impressed with Edmo. He was fully switched on and up for it. Showed good feet for a big unit.
Feijao did well (apart from the handball, but at least he attempted to make the block) and was unlucky not to score.

Sash was great in his cameo.

Alot to like. Still far too static but a gutsy win. We are normally dumb but today we were professional and everyone put in a shift.
