If they only knew
......... what we already KNOW ! ;)
Mat Ryan has no chance at Brighton. Their defenders are absolute spuds, and until they improve that unit Mat will keeping shipping dud goals that he had no chance. Unfortunately it seems that the Brighton fans need a barn door in goals.

Jedinak impresses in injury return for Aston Villa
In great news for Ange Postecoglou, Caltex Socceroos skipper Mile Jedinak made his return to competitive action overnight and earned praise from his club boss.

The midfielder played the last 30 minutes of a hard-fought but ultimately goal-less Midlands derby against Birmingham in the Championship.

It was Jedinak's first appearance for nearly seven weeks as he battles a lingering groin complaint.

The Return of the Jedi - he might not have been on the pitch for long but Mile made some important touches...

And the Aussie showed enough in his return to impress Villa boss Steve Bruce.

"He was excellent. He negated their physical threat," Bruce told www.avfc.co.uk.

"It was important that he did that because we had a few problems with their physicality.

"I thought he was excellent when he came on – he did very, very well."

Aston Villa travel to Preston North End on Thursday before hosting Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday morning (AEST).

Elsewhere, Mat Ryan helped Brighton and Hove Albion extend their unbeaten English Premier League streak to three matches after a 1-1 home draw against Southampton.

The Caltex Socceroos custodian was powerless to stop Steven Davis opening the scoring after just seven minutes.

Glenn Murray equalised just after half-time to give the Seagulls a share of the points.

Brighton are 12th after ten games and travel to Swansea this weekend before Ryan jets out to link up with the Caltex Socceroos for their winner-takes-all World Cup playoff against Honduras.

Bitch Austin out for the season.

Melbourne Victory have confirmed that winger Mitch Austin is expected to miss the rest of the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.
The injury occurred during Friday’s training session on Gosch’s Paddock, with scans later revealing the full extent of the damage to his right knee.

Austin and the club's medical staff will consult surgeons early next week.

The 26-year-old made a bright start to his second season at Victory, with five appearances and a late equaliser away to Adelaide United in a 2-all draw in Round 3.

It's another blow for Victory who are still chasing their first win after six rounds, and were momentarily dumped to the bottom of the table last night following Brisbane Roar's 3-1 win over Melbourne City and Suncorp.

With Austin now on the long-term injury list the club will consider the possibility of signing an injury replacement for the remainder of the campaign.

I am surprised he is only 26. My recollection (always dangerous relying on my memory at my age) is that he cam to us as a mature player, but if he's only 26 now he must have been 23 - 24 when he arrived.

I object to a post on Mitch Austin in a thread entitled "CCM boys conquering the world"...

A Brighton fan talking about their three best players this season: "Mat Ryan had a dodgy start with a couple of errors in goal, but since then has proven to be an inspired goalkeeper. He’s not tall by ‘keeper standards, but he has excellent reactions and has saved us on numerous occasions. His distribution is good, although his goal-kicks need a bit of improvement. He also has a habit of chatting to fans at the end of the match and coming into the stands for a photo or two, which has made him a cult hero." https://www.thisisanfield.com/2017/...ds-full-view-brighton-ahead-liverpools-visit/

For interest the IFS [Football School] played a staff v students end of year match today.
Staff side include Daniel McBreen, Patrick Zwaanswijk, Andre Gumprecht, Damien Brown, Adam Kwasnik and Will Vasquez (assistant Mariners Youth coach). Brad Porter unavailable.

Staff won 2-1 - get this: Patty headed in the first from a free kick and McBreen sealed the win with a goal from free play...rather reminiscent of a glorious Grand Final I seem to remember in the not too distant past

He was too good for the HAL. Good lad for wanting to set his family up. (Instead of snorting his salary up his nose. Hey Bozza? Ya dumb f**k)
He walked a fine line between being honest and blowing your own trumpet. I think it was just a frank, honest interview.
Good on him and I hope to see him playing in a big Euro league for a good team.
