ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

CCM Boys conquering the world

I’ve been keeping up with the boys in Scotland and watching he match if the round every week, 10 rounds in;

-Birraz; has recovered from his injury, hamstring I believe and has been on the bench the last two games. Not sure if he will get too many more chances. Dundee had a win last start but still firmly entrenched to the foot of the ladder. Not sure this is how Birraz was planning his OS adventure he begged for. Real relegation possibility.

-Rowles; still out injured with a broken foot, hasn’t been on the bench either but must be close to returning. Was starting regularly and scored a goal before the injury. Hopefully he gets back soon and plays well to help with WC opportunity.

-Miller; Two starts off the bench only so far and not in the squad at all last game. Not sure he would be handling this much bench time very well and does not appear to have been a great decision. Probably be back in the A League in a few years after wasting his time.

Rowles the pick of the bunch so far, two may have wished they didn’t leave Oz.

It has been remarked upon...

I don’t read much Keepup, to be honest I don’t think Birraz was in contention for the WC. Also other than us on this forum mentioning it I don’t think Lewis had any chance either. Not the best article, I’ve watched the other players mentioned and they are holding their own but not excelling in my opinion. Unfortunately the only one I haven’t seen is Rowles. Devlin had a massive brain fart last week earning a red that was fully deserved.

If you read the FTBL forum there were others besides us on this forum talking up Birraz for the NT. Of course he was in contention - until Langerak came back. Lewis, not much chance but plenty on this forum said he was the best RB in the AL.

Devlin and Rowles are adored on the Hearts forum. Strain and Baccus are just about the best two players at St Mirren - again according to their forum.

Mooy was getting rave reviews until Celtic were monstered by St Mirren and somehow copped most of the blame. The Celtic forums are unbelievably fickle they way they turn on their own.

I'd say that article was impeccably researched, well written with just a hint of Mariners bias - as all the best articles are.

Your comment on Birraz does not make sense, he was allegedly in contention and secured a move to Scotland but Arnie asked Langerak to come out of retirement. That itself means he had next to no chance.

Maybe, but none of us knew that's what Arnie was thinking so Birraz was well in contention as far as we all knew. Given his AL form last year, you can't possibly suggest he was behind Redders or even Vuka for that matter - objectively. Plenty of people beyond this forum were talking about him as a possibility. Mind you, some idiots were also talking up Gauci...

You lost me at Keepup and FTBL. Just fan blogs, the opinions and thoughts here are as valid.
There are 2 or maybe 3 genuine football writers in Oz IMHO
Rugari
Gatty (retired)
Aussie Scout
Rugari writes occasionally on FTBL.

I've barely looked at KeepUp (haven't heard good things) but know a great deal about FTBL (previously 442 Australia). It's a genuinely independent site but struggles to carry on due to the low revenues it earns (hence the annoying ads). The quality can be a little variable but there are two or three good writers - one in particular is surprisingly popular.

All fans opinions and thoughts are valid.

FTBL tends to get the analysis pieces out far quicker than most others also. Here's an example from the Sporting News which masquerades as an analysis piece:

Socceroos World Cup squad: Australia's projected team and possible starting side for Qatar 2022 (msn.com)

Compare it with a similar article on FTBL a week earlier which is far more interesting...

The Socceroos need an entirely new approach for 2022 World Cup - FTBL | The home of football in Australia

Also has a pleasing Mariners focus, if I do say so myself...

I would like one of these writers to get on with his next football novel.;)

Interesting, Miller back with CCM on loan in Jan? Or did he burn his bridges with the sneaky McArthur deal?
I dont think that fits with the way we work especially with recent investment. Loan a senior player to plug a hole? Sure. Loaning young players when we have other options that may develop and get us a return on investment ? Nope. We've got Aquilina and Kuzevski who both have potential to grow and make moves. Roux for extra cover.
