Agree, we all knew that, but why? Kaltak did a great job. I went to the game at Alliance on Saturday night, Kaltak kept gesturing and directing the backs, but I can't say I noticed too much hand-movement or talking from the Capatin to the rest of the team

Kaltak was only standing in as captain while Sains was injured. Trent was always going to take the armband once he returned - it’s not about Kaltak losing it but more about things going back to the original plan. Trent’s experience at international and club level made him first choice for captain. Kaltak is still Vice Captain.

Trent Sainsbury named Central Coast Mariners captain.

Not to mention one of the potential reasons for Kaltak’s loss of form according to fans speculation is the burden of captaincy, organising a new back line, not playing LCB, etc.. if we can reduce what he needs to think about hopefully he can regain some form because it’s not great atm. I’d argue we’re approaching a point where he needs a spell on the bench. Players in other spots are being dropped for less.

Interesting thoughts.
I'll play Devil's Advocate and offer the following:,
Has Kaltak lost form because A: The heavy burden of Captaincy?
Or
B: He's feeling jaded because he had the captaincy taken from him?

My head really hurt trying to figure out who the hell Lexi was,…

I got there 🥴🙈😳

Is there a poll option that says “I honestly don’t care at this stage, just would like somebody to get this shit show together?”

Or, c, he hasn't lost form, he's just had this perception of the brick wall and there's been a heavy amount of rose coloured glasses.

He didn't do anything last week different to week 1, or 3, or 6, or Aus Cup.

And it's not the armband distracting him, because he was making the same mistakes before, though it's a fair thought- we have seen player's performances drop off when given that additional role.

Somebody here hypothesised that he might be complacent. Hugely successful here, made his national team, got this media nickname- for some, there's no more motivation to improve, especially when everyone is telling you that you're perfect.

Because he's in the wrong position.

It's interesting, however, hearing that he's seen directing the line. I wonder if that's a good thing, or is he issuing the wrong instructions?

I guess we'll know if nothing improves under Sains. Though loss of motivation is likely to hurt us now too, so probably can't compare.

It's good that we stuck to the captaincy plan though. And a change is probably a good thing. Hopefully the plan has always been made clear.

Paull is improving this season. I think continuing to develop him might be smart rather than keeping Kaltak as untouchable with an automatic start.
.fighting for his position could be the kick up the bum he needs.

Or, if his head isn't in the game, could take the pressure off.

Brian deserves his brick wall moniker - he was near flawless last season.
He has lost his mojo this season for who knows what reason, but I'm not discounting him finding it again.
Despite the costly mistakes this season he has also done some quality work if you watch him for a full game.
Still, we need last seasons Kaltak back asap

I disagree to some extent. I don't think he has been flawless across the last two seasons. CBs work as a pair. In a 2 CB pairing Brian and Paull don't work. If we play 3 CBs they play better together.

Brian looked good in a back 2 with Triantis, Dan and Tappy. I suspect he will with Trent as well.

It is concerning that on the day Trent played his best game for us, Kaltak played his worst.

Hopefully just a coincidence
