ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

BB is going and DG is coming... tho's

DG has an aspect to his manner that was lacking in BB… DG is excellent with the media… further he is excellent at holding important door stops… He did lots of media to change the image of RL in his early years…

For those that forget when he took over RL …. RL was very close to going pear shaped … he has been on the front foot on many issues… he also said and he may turn out to be correct you cannot expand until you have the money… now RL has the money they can expand…

As for the media deal he may be able to give some advise and assiatance in this area as well…

DG was not be scared to make the big calls… see Melbourne Storm & Canterbury over salary caps… he also walked a tight line between News & the ARL…

What he managed to achieve with SOO and the rebirth of international RL is noteworthy…

He also has the ear of senior News, Fox & Nine folk …. which can’t be a bad thing…

Tony Sage is said to like him and respect DG over negotiations re a WA RL team…

He is a person who belives in taking baby steps but making sure those steps are correct... over time the baby steps can create something...

As I mentioned earlier when he took over RL is was so close to falling apart and the AFL actually took their eye off the NRl as they believed it could never recover ... looking at were the NRL sits today and where is was heading when he took over is impressive... but I remember very well and it was my constant call against BB ... DG is excellent with the media and comands respect across various media outlets...

umm one step backwards two steps forward .
clearly his business acumen coupled with running a national football
competition will serve the FFA and to us parochially the A-league well.
he could go from local big time player to global CEO .

i think were on to a winner

Anyone that can make a crap game like thuggery league look good has to be given some credit I suppose.

While I worry about a non-football person again taking charge, I always thought Gallop was not your usual boofhead rugby league type.

Will wait and see how he handles the complexities of our code.

One advantage he has over Buckley, who has AFL roots, is that unlike AFL, rugby league as some international aspects, tiny though they are. So he should understand that there is more to football than the domestic scene to consider.

thats why their 3 games this season were sold out . be happy that there's gunna be no CC bears or we'd be fk'd.

we have almost no player body type that we compete with . we have a common enemy. i hope gallop exploits this.
league people will follow football .but the quickest way to put them off is rag league.

just queitly

It would be tough to get a soccer guy that doesn't come with some sort of baggage I would have thought. At least Gallop brings no baggage with him, just a good reputation as being a sports administrator.

Good luck to the guy, I hope he does well.

Gallop brings no baggage ?
Apart from being hated by the majority of league fans and allowing himself to be used as a pupped during his time as the NRL CEO, don't be fooled, things wont change all FFA have done is change the face of there puppet.

I agree.

Buckley was a decent bloke but didn't really have a feel for the game and often listened to bad advice.

Gallop is a much superior operator and I'm very glad to see him on board.
