If you think that one was underwhelming wait until you see the next one. With Foxtel pulling back on non marquee content the league has its work cut out over the next year or two.
But at least now a greater percentage of the deal will head to the clubs.
100%. Theyll be needing a strong FTA component.
You could see from the get go last season how much cost Fox cut from their football coverage.

All Gallop did was play up to NRL prejudice about wog fans. His relentless attacks on active support has killed off atmosphere that was a unique part of the game.
Oh, he also presided over the Stajcic debacle - wont that look great on the resume?

Leeds opened their pre-season campaign with a 5-0 win at York City on Thursday with Jack Harrison scoring twice and Roofe, Hernandez and Adam Forshaw also on the score sheet.

Enjoyable night.
Leeds scored early and Wanderers parked the bus.
Leeds had 18 shot OFF target and hit the woodwork 3 times.
But Leeds took until the 95min to get the winner.
Leeds should have had 7 or 8 goals.
The stadium is fantastic.
Hard to gauge the Wanderers. Leeds players were a level above but the drive by's look more solid this year at least in structure.

Seems that the trend for kit reveals this season has gone really hard on the 'trying really hard to look street' thing.....and so far all the reveals look like they were done by first year photography students. Terrible concepts, cringeworthy posing, even worse photography - all of it looking like the brainchild of first-year marketing or photography students doing an assignment (although given how often big companies expect photographers to work for free for the 'opportunity' and 'exposure', perhaps that's exactly what happened...) Just embarrassingly incompetent, but it seems to be the 'theme'.
Can't wait to see our kit reveal with Matty Simon doing gang signs underneath the Brian McGowan bridge.
Or the Jets reveal with a bunch of 14 year olds proudly showing off their ankle monitors in the Broadmeadows maccas carpark
Some shithouse kits too. Once again, MV has probably won the 'worst kit of the year' award

Really? With Pearce as our number 1? Its all more lies bullshit and spin until they actually sign some real footballers
That’s definitely not ideal, but neither is pulling some casual wear reveal like Perth or WSW or a terrible amateur job like WU did. We need to show focus on getting some credibility back on the pitch. If you want to be down on our signings that’s fine but hopefully with a little time the club can address that. In the mean time they need to get on with the job with other things like preseason prep, FFA cup and kit reveal.

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
An interesting thought.....although i would go a HAL GF Wiinners v NPL All Stars or something similar.....

According to reports, FFA are floating the idea of a "Community Shield" match between the A-League Premiers and the A-League Grand Final winners. We think that while this is a great idea, it should be between:

- A-League Premiers v NPL playoff winners
Or
- A-League Premiers v FFA Cup winners

Thoughts?

Australia U-23 squad named to face New Zealand U-23

Gary van Egmond has named a 24-man squad for Australia U-23’s upcoming two-match series against New Zealand U-23 in Wollongong and Campbelltown.

The matches, to be played at WIN Stadium in Wollongong on Friday 6 September and in Campbelltown on Monday 9 September will serve as vital preparation ahead of the Olympic Games qualification tournament in January.

Melbourne City will boast five representatives in the squad, with Nathaniel Atkinson, Denis Genreau, Thomas Glover, Connor Metcalfe and Lachie Wales combining for the largest representation from a Hyundai A-League club.

SCOUTING UPDATE: The youngsters who've stood out to Graham Arnold

Metcalfe is one of two players set to make their U-23’s debut should they take to the pitch, the other being Western Sydney Wanderers’ Tate Russell, who was born in Wollongong.

Adelaide United have four players in the squad, while Hyundai A-League newcomers Western United and Western Sydney will each be represented by three players.

Young Socceroos Head Coach van Egmond, who will oversee the team for these games, says he has been working closely with Caltex Socceroos Head Coach Graham Arnold to select the strongest available squad for these important lead up matches.

Young Socceroos Head Coach van Egmond, who will oversee the team for these games, says he has been working closely with Caltex Socceroos Head Coach Graham Arnold to select the strongest available squad for these important lead up matches.

“This squad is starting to spend a lot of valuable time together, after the qualification tournament in March in Cambodia, these games in New South Wales and more planned before the end of the year, we think we will be well placed once the Olympic qualifiers come around,” he said.

“The majority of our squad stems from the Hyundai A-League and it gives these young players an opportunity to continue to work towards a goal we have set, the first qualification at the Olympics for an Australian men’s team since 2008,” he said.

The Australian U-23s will travel to Thailand in January to compete in the 2020 AFC U-23 Championship where the top three teams will earn the right to join host nation Japan as Asia’s representatives at Tokyo 2020.

The New Zealand team will be aiming to qualify via the OFC U-23 Championship in September, where the winner will secure Oceania’s place in the tournament.

Agreed, but now they got history to look back on and make the required improvements

Plus it would be a "football channel" not just a channel with football on it.
Sort of embracing the World Game totally with football from all over the world, talk shows and football humour ,youtube clips etc
Recky....brilliant mate!!!
