ALM Grand Final vs Victory 23/24

Let the Gossy Good times roll.

Unbelievable. The noise from the goals was unreal.

I said when Vuka made the diving save in the first half from Arzani. That we always win Vuka makes a big save.

Typical cagey grand final and Victory were better till they shut up shop. I thought Poppa went to early to shut up and why Arzani as he would be perfect on the break. That left them with no way out and to much time.

Then the subs went to work. Niz got a lot more involved and when that happens good things come.

Ronnie was awesome Niz had the poise and Edmo went boom.

Then Di Pizzio what a year he has had. Asian cup savior and now youngest A League Grand Final scorer. Well deserved young man. Another Western Sydney boy polished in Gosford.

Then Edmo finally gets rewarded for a run and we are in dreamland.

Agree Hally was magnificent and fought off cramp.

All the lads have been spectacular all year and have never given up and we have scored a lot of late goals so it was fitting to do it again.

Oh wow what a night.

Special shout out to the guy on the leg scooter storming the pitch and McBreens laughing and Tara singing 😂

To Melbourne keep crying baby. It just makes it sweeter

Some random thoughts at this point. Still spinning.

At about the 83rd minute I was thinking about how so far this season we've always found a way through. Always. If tonight wasn't it I could forgive it but surely they would? They've done it so many times. Then BAM, Edmo's goal goes in and we all knew what was to happen from there.

We played better after they scored, but they also dropped 5 to the back and compressed for defence so was so hard to play through. Once we did it was game on.

I was in Bay 26 and the noise at atmosphere was epic. From our goal onwards it was electric

Some commentary straight after the game:

4BC executive producer Luke Cooper posted: “This has to be one of the greatest A-League Grand Finals ever played. Any other opinion is wrong. Add it to the history books.”

The Sydney Morning Herald’s Vince Rugari wrote: “Some effort to clear the pitch as quickly as they have. That was the most well-natured and polite invasion you’ll ever see lol. Very CCM. What a club. What a moment.”

Socceroos legend Robbie Slater added: “Best scenes maybe ever in @aleaguemen history! Pitch invasion just brilliant.”

Kommunity TV’s Rob Greenwood tweeted: “A community-based club on a tight budget has just delivered the greatest season in #ALeague history. If ever we needed a shining light in testing times for the domestic competition, @ccmariners are it (again). Amazing scenes & a proper football atmosphere in Gosford.”

Football journalist David Moore said: “That’s gotta be the happiest pitch invasion ever. Just pure joy. Soak it up @ccmariners fans.”

Journalist Robert Smith said: “#Mariners crown an unbelievable season coming from behind to down #Victory 3-1 and win back to back #ALeague titles and a season treble of premiership, continental cup and grand final wins. euphoria for #Mariners, crushing for #Victory.”

Another fan commented: “Awesome Grand Final, phenomenal season from the Mariners. Full pitch invasion topped it off. What a night.”

Was lucky enough to be in Bay 7 with the Brazilian contingent in front and Kuol family to the left with Triantis and Garang with reserved emotions but looking like they would die to be out there.

Highlight was having Tulio on FaceTime going mental swinging the shirt around!

And Doka coming up after game to his girlfriend with nose bloody and taking a breathe after a massive workload in that game.

Unbelievable team performance against a very tough and committed Victory squad .The Vic players are OK but their fans for the most part are dickheads.
The ref was very good tonight .Kaltak and Hall were tremendous as usual and Ballard,Tapp and Steele when he came on were very committed and physical.Barcellos really shone tonight and Theo in the first half played wth heart and had a real battle with Arzani.Great to see Edmo show his goal scoring abilities .His goal and diPizio’s were well worked with great interplay

The pitch invasion was utterly beautiful, I thought the ground announcer also handled it well and knew the vibe. The couple hundred that were baiting the Vic scum could’ve been worse but in the end was harmless.

I f**kING LOVE THIS

That photo of Tulio on FaceTime almost makes me cry. Seeing nectar on the pitch was a VERY nice surprise. Plenty of our former favourite sons getting around us online. Sains, Stens, Sammy etc
