Adelaide United FC has won the race for the prized signature of striker Sergio van Dijk, with the Dutchman ending speculation about his future after putting pen to paper on a three year deal with the Reds.

Several Hyundai A-League clubs were chasing van Dijks services, but after becoming attached to the club and the city since arriving for the Reds AFC Champions League 2010 campaign, the former Brisbane Roar forward has decided his future is in Adelaide.

The new deal will keep van Dijk, who scored his debut Adelaide United goal in last Wednesdays 2-0 win over Shandong Luneng in China, at the Reds until the end of the 2012/13 season.

Adelaide United FC midfielder Lucas Pantelis will remain a Red for at least the next two seasons, after signing a contract extension with the club.

Definite _NAY_ to Payne.

We have three strikers already. We need a different style of striker but HAS to be one who is good enough to be starting. Payne comes here, and he's very likely behind Nik, Matty and McBreen in the pecking order... This is not what we want in a newly signed striker - and Payne is still largely unproven as a goal scorer at HAL level. Handballs aside

In short. I want better and faster than Payne.

The Hyundai A-League's newest franchise Melbourne Heart has secured a major recruiting coup by luring Qantas Socceroos legend John Aloisi to the club.

Aloisi, 34, joins the club after playing for Sydney FC for the past two seasons.

In joining Heart, Aloisi reunites with coach John van 't Schip, who he played alongside at Serie A club Genoa.

Aloisi believes this will be his last season of professional football and he sees his time at the Heart as a transition to a role in coaching.

"There are not many footballers who have played in all three big European leagues. It's amazing to think that John completed his first season in Italy while I finished the final one of my career," van 't Schip said.

"In my discussions with John he has a great tactical understanding of football and has great opportunity to become a successful coach."

Aloisi will also link up with former Sydney team-mate Clint Bolton, who signed with the Heart in February.
