ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!
If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.
ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.
nsw is a big place with plenty of juniors and plenty of corporate cash. if we can't make it work in canberra (remembering that barring the gold coast it's the biggest urban centre in the country with no a-league club), why would it work anywhere else?nero said:Reply to Marconigirl.
Of course Canberra is in the ACT. But the problem with a Canberra team in the A-League is that they are too close to the NSW clubs( If there is SFC,Mariners,JETS,[GONG and WSYD]). To think they will only draw juniors from the ACT and not parts of NSW is very questionable. The ACT is surrounded by NSW and with the Mariners chasing juniors in that area, it would take a a strong A-League with Canberra doing well to get sponsorship and crowds.
to reiterate:nero said:Western Sydney is a great idea, sort of. If they entered the HAL, the crowds at Sydney may dry up and disappear. Last season was the 1st time our crowds actually beat Sydney's and that was because they were playing terribly. If they went like again and for say 3 seasons, with a western Sydney team in the comp, SFC may average less then 10K and fall into serious trouble.
it's not like there's only so much pie to go around. we can grow the pie!dibo said:west sydney is an absolute no-brainer, and i've got to laugh every time someone says that they couldn't work because sydney fc's crowds are rubbish - it's not like we're talking about a situation where everyone who will ever support a club in western sydney is already supporting sydney fc - there are a helluva lot of people out there who aren't yet hooked up to the a-league and west sydney might make it that little bit easier for them.

Also, vote to dump the finals series (not that it will ever happen)
