what a disaster.
we lost 6:2 away to Aachen, it was 4:1 at half time.
can't say that much about the match as I just saw a short sum-up but from what I saw it was woeful.

A positive aspect is that Andi Wolf who ruptured his crucial ligament in round 1 was back on the bench today. so there is hope that he might play next Sunday and give some stablity back to our defence.

We have 2 home matches in a row now, next Sunday against Wehen-Wiesbaden and the following Friday against Mainz. Wehen want to avoid relegation and Mainz want to get promoted this year.

The good news for today's match is that our captain Andy Wolf is back after his cruciate ligament rupture.
the bad news is the weather. lots of snow and very low temperatures...

it was a horrible match today. played very bad, had just 3 chances and the first corner after 65mins.
won 1:0, the goal was offside but the assistant didn't see it.

we are playing Mainz at home next Friday but will definitely lose if we play like today

btw the match between Karlsruhe and Frankfurt was nearly broken off (?) as some so-called fans from Frankfurt threw some flares on the pitch which nearly missed 2 players...

Currently 7th Mick, but having said that 3rd to 7th place is a spread of 4 points. they are 7 points off 2nd and 10 pts behind 1st

although 1. FC Kaiserslautern, who is in 4th has a game in hand.

Kaiserslautern lost today against St Pauli.
so we are 4 points behind spot 3 and 7 behind spot 2.
Mainz is currently 2nd but we are playing them next Friday. If we win we will be just 4 points away from Mainz.

This matchday is the big chance for is to get back into the race for promotion.
it is Nrnberg - Mainz
      Kaiserslautern - Frth
      Aachen - Duisburg

we can make a big step towards spot 3 and even spot 2 if we win tonight.

there is the possibility that we will have a negative record regarding tonight's crowd.
Nrnberg has just sold 5,500 additional tickets and there is a strike at the public transport system so no busses, tubes and trams are running today. will be interesting to see how everyone gets to the stadium - including me.
fortunately, the trains are running so everyone can at least go to Central Station.

what shall I say...the match was quite good as both teams played with a lot of pace.
the result was a 0:0 draw but regarding the offside goals, we should have won 2:1
not sure, if all 3 goals really were offside...

??? ??? we are so unbelievable stupid! that is not normal anymore...

played Duisburg away today and could have gone up with a win to spot 4 with just 4 points behind spot 3..

were 1:0 down, scored the 1:1 from an indirect free kick from 5 metres (all players from Duisburg were on the goal line), Bunkaju scored the 2:1 for us in the 88th min...but then: free kick Duisburg from nearly the middle line...someone headed toward the goal and our keeper Schfer was sleeping

so we conceeded the draw just 3 secs before the end....

so we now have 34 points but that is far too less to make a step further....

We are playing our 2nd match within 5 days tonight at 6pm (CET). Having a home match against LR Ahlen which are currently 10th with 31points, just 3 less then us.

As we lost 2 points on Monday we really need to win that we'd still have a chance for spot 3.

The expected crowd is approx. 22k which is really poor...

there won't be any changes in the squad, i.e. Spiro and Vidosic aren't in the team.

we gained 3 important points yesterday. won 4:0 against a really poor Ahlen side, they didn't have a single shot on the goal, except 2 free kicks that got over the post.

Marek Mintal scored 3 out of the 4 goals; we could have easily won 6:0 though.

We are now, before the matches on Sunday, 5th with 37 points, 4 points behind spot 3.

Our next match is on Monday, 23 March, away to Freiburg which are currently top of the league.

DARIO VIDOSIC - today's hero  :)

played Freiburg, which is top of the league, away today, and won 1:0 with a goal from Dario Vidosic. he came on after 82mins and scored 2 mins later.

gave a nice bilingual interview afterwards. I have to say that his German is quite good after 1.5 years. Said that he scored in a friendly last week what gave him confidence as he was injured for 6 weeks. after that trial he was ill for 2 days and had to go to hospital. he said that he still needs some training for his leg but he gives 100% when he comes on in the next matches.

was a real good match today, with the 2nd away win this season, which gives hope for the next match against Koblenz on April 3. If we can keep the form we are in it will be a good match Drew is going to see :)

Dario Returns With The Winner

FORGOTTEN Australian Dario Vidosic sent a clear message to FC Nrnberg after scoring the winner in the 1-0 victory over SC Freiburg in 2.Bundesliga.

Vidosic struck barely a minute after coming on as a late substitute to further enhance sixth-placed Nrnberg's hopes of an immediate return to the Bundesliga after being relegated last season.

The goal was Vidosic's first for the club and perhaps the most important of his career considering he had not played for Nrnberg since November and had actually tried to leave Germany in January after trialling with Danish Superliga club Esbjerg fB.

The strike couldn't have come at a better time for Vidosic, who only got a chance in the first-team on Monday due to the absence midfielders Marcel Risse, Mike Frantz and Peer Kluge.

The match had seemed destined for a 0-0 draw but Vidosic's intervention sends a message of intent to Nrnberg boss Michael Oenning that the former Queensland Roar man has something to offer the club.

The 21-year-old Australian netted the winner on 83 minutes after receiving Christian Eigler's central pass before getting the better of two defenders and firing a low right-footed shot from just outside the box past Freiburg keeper Simon Pouplin.

Vidosic's strike would prove decisive as Nrnberg held off league leading Freiburg's late attempts at an equaliser to take the Bavarians to 40 points just four from the promotion spots.

Matt Spiranovic, Vidosic's Australian compatriot at Nrnberg, missed the game as he is still unavailable due to a long-term ankle injury.

the interview with Dario after the Freiburg match. it is a mixture of English and German, a very nice interview from a sympathetic person  :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeNn9DzC8dY

here's the translation of the German parts:

reporter: the man of the evening

Dario (match against Weiden): I trained for 1 week but I was ill for 2 days (had to go to hospital)

Dario: I can speak German a little bit, it is not bad as I am here for 1.5 years now; I understand a little bit but normally English is better

reporter: things are going very well in German
Dario: thanks, it's ok.

reporter: you played 3 matches: 20mins against Duisburg, 4 mins against Ahlen and 17mins against Fuerth. Are you hoping to get more match time in the future?
Dario: Maybe, but it is the trainer's decision...I had a knee problem for 5 months, now I have to get back some strength in my leg...I can play next week for 20/10/5 mins

reporter: I don't translate what you said as it is so nice hearing you speaking some German and English. Stick to that.
Dario: It is good practising some German as it is live TV. Speaking German is difficult but I tried it

-------------------------------

I personally think, that his German is really really good  :)
