I was told something today from an internal but not always reliable source who thought Japan.
Hope it's true for him, deserves a payday before retirement.
Highly doubt a Japanese side will be after him, particularly after this season, he’d also struggle even in J2 imo. India is most likely.
It’s probably the right time to go in a different direction tbh.

Scouting will take into account the previous seasons and the amount of players lost over the last 2 years. They won't be judging him on just this year.

Nevertheless, imo he would be found out 10 fold in a Japanese league. With the speed, technical ability and intelligence of basically every team.

I think he gets found out in Japan on previous seasons from at his best. He is good in the air and quick (so recovers reasonably well) but even at his best with us he was nowhere near technical enough for the J league.

What this year has highlighted is that while he fits in to a solid defence and can be effective, he isn't the player that you build the defence on.

But he is strong, tall and athletic. Rather rare attributes in the J-League, even with lesser technical ability players like Deng, Geria, Josh Kennedy have been successful there.

They had success in various teams, but none of them have dominated the league or had sides built around them.

Kaltak would be in that category where in a good side he will be effective but he's not the rock you build a side on.

Haine Eames and Jai Ajanovic starting for the Joeys against Vietnam. Logan Sambrook and Jared Williams on the bench.

Eames had a decent first half, some great defensive play but seemed a little bit nervous on the ball.

Not much for Ajanovic to do in the first half but made one fantastic low diving save in first half stoppage time.

Smith and Warshawsky I would assume are gone.
Sash's knee injury came at a very bad time which puts him in jeopardy.
I would assume Paull, Alfie and Kaltak will be re-signed. The Coach likes all 3 of them.
Brandtman and Duarte are good squad fillers who are still improving.
Theo must be sweating. If he is retained it would not be on an improved contract.

I’d say Kaltak will move on, smith is gone kuzi and Theo could be sweating and I can’t see warshawsky being kept on. The rest I expect to be extended if they want to be.
Even players that aren’t coming off contract this season, I would be blown away if Wilson and Kuol are here next season. Regardless of jacking staying, if we get a new manager in and you look at kuol’s output, he isn’t the striker you’d want.

Brandtman: Unless we have a whole host of attacking signings lined up I can't see us not re-signing him. Unless he's been offered a better deal at Perth/Brisbane/Wellington.

Duarte: Can't see us losing him, Jacko seems to have faith in him, at least off the bench.

Kaltak: Re-signed unless the rumours of Japan/Auckland are true.

Kuzevski: Not sure if he has done enough but I personally wouldn't be unhappy with him staying. Might survive purely because of the lack of avaliable Australian full backs.

McCalmont: Unless he has a better offer and Jacko has seen enough I can't see him leaving. Apart from Doka he's Jacko's first name on the teamsheet.

Paull: Can see him being snagged by another A-League side. Would be disappointing to lose him after he has improved so much this season after a considerable playing time investment. Will stay if we can keep him.

Smith: Gone. Complete lack of involvement in matchday squads, even when there are no other options, tells a story.

Theoharous: Probably been our best winger this season, though that isn't saying much. Can see him leaving though as he doesn't seem to gell with Jacko too well.

Warshawsky: Gone. Only space for one keeper behind DPC and Pavlesic has a year to run on his contract.

Kuol is our top goal scorer this season!
