ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

It might be a good idea to call a meeting somewhere to present the forumites views on who we see as worth supporting for positions on the Fan/community Engagement Committee. I would be happy to support many from this forum who have shown at least half a brain, sometimes talk sense, are passionate and a willingness to get involved.
Wombat, Ozhammer, Forum Phoenix, BG, Mick and any of the guys from the pods, Immediately spring to mind as examples. There are many others and I apologise for not naming them.

Thoughts?

I do not see the current owner as a problem.
His aim is to have the Club become totally self supporting which should now be clear to all. Also what should be clear, is that the plan for the Club to be self supporting is to be a development/selling club, which, based on the current crop of players coming through appears to have a chance of being a very successful model.
Until that happens it is commonly reported that MC has to find something in the order of $1m each year to keep the Club's head above water.
If the Trust owns 10% of the Club it would then be expected to fund $100k each season and MC to fund $900k. No problem, it just means that dollars that could be invested in purchasing a bigger slice of the Club will have to go to on costs.

Not wishing to be a doomsday merchant but for the Club to be self supporting it will need the Academy to continually be producing talent until other sources of funding can be discovered.

What could cause real problems is if MC sells a major shareholding to some Russian or Arab multi billionaire who may wish to invest $10m in a any one year to buy success at which stage any minor shareholder must match the investment proportionally or sell out.
Unlikely, but a possibility.

What could be a sticking point is the value that MC puts on the Club. If he comes with a reasonable figure, which I hope happens , will show how fair dinkum he is about the whole deal.

Anyone investing should not look to make money. The aim is to help have a successful Mariners on the Coast.

I see initial support as being vital. Early success will lead to growth through through massive publicity of the whole novelty of the idea and I can see success breeding success.

Although I doubt that I will live long enough to see this scheme come to full maturity I will compete with Mick for a low shareholder membership number.

I must admit that I am troubled By item 1.3 of the "Primary Activities".
"Invest in and support community initiatives in the Central Coast Region."
This suggests to me that the Co-operative can spend its funds on activities that may be of only distant benefit to CCMFC. It will depend on how long a bow is drawn.

I find the cost of a share as laid out confusing and maybe contradictory in the Rules and explanation document.
Do shares cost $250 or $500? Or is the $500 dollars in the rules the cost of a share plus a joining fee or cost of a share plus annual subscription?

In the information pack the table 6.20 outlining projected growth, listing co-op memberships, share capital and annual revenue, suggests a price of shares at $250 and annual subscriptions at $200. Have I missed something or do the numbers not add up?

Shares cost 250, membership costs 250 and is renewed annually. That's what I got from it.

The first thing I saw when I read that was "if you build it they will come" ?. Leaves it open to run gala days, events, etc etc. Or build a stadium ? ? ?

I would have less trouble with those examples than say donating money for a community initiative such raising funds new lighting for Terrigal Oval which may only benefit the Club very indirectly.
