World Cup qualifiers this week

North Korea have just beaten Saudi Arabia 1-0, in a game which intensifies the battle in Asia's Group B. Iran v South Korea is tonight, as is Uzbekistan v Bahrain in Group A.

CONCACAF final round starts up with the following games:
USA v Mexico
Costa Rica v Honduras
El Salvador v Trinidad & Tobago

A couple of tasty ones in what looks like a more competitive group. Sure, everyone expects the USA, Mexico and Costa Rica to qualify... but El Salvador, Honduras and Trinidad & Tobago are all capable sides.

In Europe, the following games are to be played:
Group 1: Malta v Albania
Group 3: San Marino v Northern Ireland
Group 8: Republic of Ireland v Georgia

Albania, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland all have their chance to catch up in what look like very competitive groups. The ROI will be level on points with Italy if they win.
