Sydney FC coach John Kosmina slams mid-year deals

COACH John Kosmina yesterday labelled the A-League's transfer system "crazy", with four experienced Sydney FC players set to jump ship as cashed-up new franchises raid the local market.

Defenders Robbie Middleby, Iain Fyfe and Jacob Timpano and striker Brendon Santalab are all expected to part company with the club after rejecting new offers.

But Kosmina says he regards players signing for new clubs when the current season is not even half over as very disruptive.

"I think the whole process is flawed," he said.

"I know you can speak to players six months before the expiration of their contract.

"But if you go back to October 1, what, we'd played five rounds in the A-League and you've already got players

Oh, so now he complains when the transfer system doesn't suit him!  :innocent:

Oh f**k off Kossie, as if you ain't spoken to anyone coming off contract! WANKER

Players only have a short period to earn as much as they can so of course they are going to listen to all offers, if I was on a contract at work for 6 months and another company wanted to talk to me and offer perhaps a 2 years contract of course you would listen and do the best thing for yourself and family.

It's healthy for the Australian game if the new clubs take some of the squad players from other teams, it will help develop them further and improve the quality of the league.

So let me see if I have this right.

Player is coming off contract and SFC make them and offer. This offer is then either shopped around by the player or other clubs try to compete.

if this is what happened, WTF is he whining about?

When I last looked, we had a competitive labour market and players are no different to any other employee. They have a limited career lifespan and can hardly be blamed for going for max money TO DO EXACTLY THE SAME JOB with another employer. IF SFC wanted them so badly, pay more money. Simple really.

The man just makes himself look a tool everytime he opens his mouth doesnt he?

Harden up Kossie, seriously, every club is affected by it...just because SFC can't hide behind the FFA on this doesn't mean you whinge about it.

Did you see him bristle tonight? Simon Hill asks him if Sydney FC is in crisis having secured only 5 points from 18, and K Dog responds: "We're not in crisis, maybe there's a crisis in your job!"

Oh yeah, commentary is in real turmoil. It's like Wall Street at Fox Sports right now.
