Not really Mariners related, but I wonder if this lot are interested in the A League?

A mysterious Sydney-based start-up that streams Indian baseball, Nicaraguan football and bare-knuckle boxing has beaten some of sports broadcasting’s biggest players to secure the exclusive rights to the UEFA Champions League in Australia.

Sports Flick – a streaming service that launched late last year and broadcasts predominantly fringe sports and football leagues with extremely niche local followings – has emerged as the shock winners of a blind auction-style tender process for the rights to the world’s most-watched club tournament, according to sources with knowledge of the deal.

Would need some serious due diligence to make sure these guys can pay the bills if they did go for the rights. Selecting a broadcaster that goes bust could put the league in an extremely dangerous spot.

They wouldn’t be able to do the production. Pretty sure the A League is going to need someone that can produce as well as stream like fox.
Otherwise the A League should do everything it self.
The A League could even go in an untraditional way and sell to everyone with no exclusivity.

Could be produced by A League and sold to Kayo Optus Stan and free to air as well as this new crew. You might get close to the same money and bigger exposure. Its not a massive market so there maybe more appetite for this than paying overs for exclusive content

There is a massive market for Football worldwide. I'm pretty sure just about every Country in the World would be interested in showing the A League if they could buy a slickly produced product at a decent price.

Fox already subcontract the filming and production. There’s a decent chance they’d end up using the same people if the league took it in house.

Chief executive Dylan Azzopardi says he founded Sports Flick in 2019 when he was 25 years old. His LinkedIn profile states he is an “entrepreneur with a demonstrated history of working in the media production industry” and a Tafe graduate.

Azzopardi’s LinkedIn connections are extensive and include a number of high-profile executives, including Football Australia CEO James Johnson. His 300-odd Instagram followers include John Ibrahim’s former bodyguard, Neil Cummins. Turner told Guardian Australia that Cummins is “categorically not involved with Sports Flick”.

I wonder what that has to do with it all?
