ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Great news indeed though this figure is based across the whole league and not CCM. Having said that I have no doubt that the memberships are up on the Coast given the airtime on local radio as well as the membership drives taking place. One question it does pose is that given there is a such a large playing base across the Coast why does this not translate into memberships with the Mariners. The local club I play for has about 500 members (one of the smaller clubs) yet come A League time a vast majority have not taken up membership. Why is this?

One possible explanation is that just because you play soccer, doesn't mean you want to watch it. I must admit to being continually dumbfounded by my 35's team. Whenever we prepare for a game on a Saturday, the talk is always about the NRL game the night before. Everyone has their favourite NRL team and the banter is always about bloody NRL.

Whenever there is a NRL game on at Bluetongue, my team mates express great excitement. Come A-league season, there is barely any acknowledgment of the competition.

I think it's a generational thing. The Mariners have only been around for 5 years. These guys have been following the same team for 45 years... and their fathers even longer. Toss in the fact that even though memberships provide good value for money, it's still hard earned money that is being spent on a (dare I say) a needless luxury item. A lot of people would rather put that money to their mortgage, alcohol, kids education, cigarettes etc (hopefully not in that order... lol).
