ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Wouldn't mind Marin O'Neill or Johan Neeskens to keep things Dutch.

happy/pleased/excited/disapointed?

A little surprised (mainly that FFA was competent enough not to leak) but mainly satisfied that we have a new coach in under 2 months since the WC. Those who wanted a big name I ask, why?

He ticks a lot of the right boxes: Not Dutch, speaks excellent English, will be based here, but more importantly he has experience in Asia (Urawa Red Diamonds), Canada (second world football like us), club and national teams, and seems open to the journey we have to go on.

was hoping for jose pekerman but maybe he will do a good job, i just hope he brings through generation next and develops the next "golden generation" because kewell, neill, cahill, emmo, chippers etc are all getting on

i wont bag anyone i dont know much about so ill reserve my judgement but it is a good thing he will be australian based and keep tabs on the a-league and hopefully he can leave a legacy, something pim failed to do in his time

1987-1990: Assistant coach of the German national team (and national youth coach) – Winners of the FIFA World Cup
1990-1991: Assistant coach of Olympique Marseille (French Ligue 1 Winners)
1991-1992: VfL Bochum
1993-1994: Fenerbahçe Istanbul
1995-1996: Urawa Red Diamonds
1997-1998: Kocaelispor (Turkish Cup Winner)
1998-2003: Canada National team Head Coach and Technical Director (2000 CONCACAF Gold Cup Winners)
2004-2006: Director of the FIFA Technical Department
2007-2008: Urawa Red Diamonds (AFC Champions League 2007 Winners)
2008-2010: FIFA Technical Department

This is an excellent appointment especially when you consider he was the Director of the FIFA Technical Department.

It's good how he has at least some experience In Asia. Should do a better job than better than Verbeek. :)

so that would mean qualifying for the world cup without conceeding a goal and getting to at least the second round of the world cup?

First impressions - very impressed. Not only in his credentials but his opening words. If he can bring any of the technical excellence and attitude the Germans showed at the World Cup, I'm on board.

osi, osi, osi ..... oi. oi. oi! - clever!
