Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Sky Sports NZ Not Showing A-League

EXCLUSIVE: Kiwi Shane Smeltzs stunning four goal effort for Gold Coast United on Saturday was snubbed by SKY NZ who didn't broadcast the game live...but showed it on replay at 1.30am the following morning.
Kiwi fans are up in arms over SKY NZ's coverage of the A-League which they say is a slap in the face for fans who want to see live A-League football.

SKY NZ is covering Wellington Phoenix matches but as for the rest of the league, it's slim pickings with a scaled back commitment to one of the AFC's growing leagues.

For instance, fans across the ditch will have to wait till this Thursday to see the full replay of the Sydney FC versus Adelaide game, a game played last Sunday.

It's understood the broadcaster aired old footage of golf and kayaking last weekend rather than some of the stunning live A-League action across Australia that saw spectacular goals in Melbourne, Gold Coast and Sydney.

By contrast, Fox Sports in Australia airs live A-League football of ever single game including Wellington Phoenix matches in New Zealand.

Some fans are saying they are being short-changed by their SKY NZ subscription and aren't happy, say Kiwi football fan forums.

Phoenix CEO Tony Pignata has also entered the debate, saying the broadcaster's commitment to the A-League overall was "disappointing.

"You've got some of the delayed games four or five days after the actual game - so it's very, very disappointing and quite frustrating," he said on www.radiosport.co.nz.

New Zealand radio broadcaster and Phoenix fan Jason Pine was equally mystified by the broadcaster's lack of coverage.

"You can understand if there was a clash of live sport," he said.

"But as a broadcaster that prides itself on its live coverage of sport, to show taped footage kayaking and golf rather than live coverage of the A-League - which they've paid for the rights to it anyway - is baffling."

This broadcasting issue comes at a time when the game in New Zealand is on the precipice of World Cup qualification.

Yesterday, the NZ governing body launched the "One Shot At Glory" (www.oneshotforglory.co.nz) campaign in the lead up to their final World Cup qualifiers in the next three months.

The campaign, conceived by Clemenger BBDO, was commissioned by the New Zealand Professional Footballers Association and supported by New Zealand Football, Wellington City Council and the Wellington consortium that successfully bid to host the final World Cup match on November 14 against either Bahrain or Saudi Arabia.

The website will allow the public to demonstrate their support for the team and some notable Kiwi sporting stars - ranging from Black Caps to Silver Ferns - have already lent their support

Wellington won't be in the league much longer anyway, who cares.
The FFA.  If the NZ ratings aren't worth the cost to Sky NZ, less telecast contract money next time round.

Get rid of them. We owe their game nothing. Taking up a spot that could go to an Aussie side.

Not yet.  We need the OFC vote for the World Cup bid.  ;)

For all those Wellington Haters

The sheep shaggers got 10 000 plus for a game against glory in 7 degree pouring rain shitty conditions.

Mariners got less then 10 000 on a sunny day to a derby match.

Not hating on the mariners, just think its a bit silly for people to say they should not exist as there is clearly money to be made over there.
