Scots want Inman

We are in need of a bit of pro activeity by Pim  ... he should call Bradden Inman now and say you are in the next Socceroo team and play him in the last 5 mins if the match is tight. this kid has been making waves for a while IMO should have been called to Japan to the train on squad some are saying he is as good as KOOL .. even better than Troisi... but if at 16 you get picked to play in an EPL side you must be a reasonable at 17 to be getting on the team sheet ....

Many say Eddie Thompson capped KOOL just before the POM's to me this is the same all over agian.

Aussie Young Gun Goes Tartan?

Promising Newcastle United teenager Bradden Inman could be the latest Australian youngster lost to the Socceroos after receiving a call-up to Scotlands under-19 squad.

Adelaide-born Inman, who is still only 17, has progressed rapidly this season at St James Park and as a result he has attracted the attention of the Scottish national team.

Inman started the season playing with Newcastles academy side but the youngster, who is nicknamed Kaka at St James Park, has impressed so much he has been promoted to the clubs first team and was amongst the substitutes for the Magpies recent English Premier League match at Manchester City in late January.

Nonetheless, despite being born in Australia, the teenager who joined Newcastle at under-15 level, is eligible to play for Scotland because his mother was born there.

And thus Scotlands under-19s boss Archie Gemmill has selected Inman to be part of the team which will face France in Wednesdays International Challenge Match in Clairefontaine.

Australian fans though shouldnt despair the loss of a young talent just yet, because FIFA regulations state that a player is only committed to representing a country once they have represented that nation at under-21 level.

I saw him play in a reserves match at Newcastle. I didnt know he was an Aussie but he was a good player. He played in the team with players like Donaldson and Lua Lua.

Is he as good as some say ... his feet / timimg / etc is a class above most his age and better than most in the Under 23 sqiuad ... hard to tell after one match but from what you saw is he as good as I said before ... that many are saying he and KOOL at the same age about equal.

To be honest he didnt stand out in the game i went to i just remembered his name. Lua Lua was a standout in that game! Newcastle won 3 nil and it was a good performance. But by the sounds of it he has a big rap on him in the North East and Newcastle are known to produce some gifted players so hopefully he can one day go on to play for Australia.
Only problem he may have that he is working under Dick Money and Joe Kinnear and that doesnt instill confidence.
But he is always mentioned in match reports as playing well so thats always a good sign.

As you would know midfielder there are so many young Aussie players playing in the reserves or youth systems of big clubs and they just need time to develop and come through the ranks.

I count 4 players on that list at Hearts.

There's more Aussies and Lithuanians at that club than Scots!!

James Wesolowski is on loan at DUFC and may make his debut this weekend.

Most of that list will probably disappear without a trace or end up in the a-league imo.

Bradden Inman poised to select Scotland over Australia

Sunday Herald Sun

Scott Walsh

March 08, 2009 12:00am

THE Socceroos appear certain to lose one of their brightest hopes - because no one from Football Federation Australia has bothered to contact him.

Only days after Australia's embarrassing 1-0 loss to Kuwait, the Socceroos face another bungle with Adelaide 17-year-old Bradden Inman revealing he is poised to choose Scotland as his national team.

The gun Newcastle United midfielder, a substitute for the Magpies' Premier League clash with Manchester City last month, is torn between loyalty to Australia and the opportunity to play with either Scotland or England.

His mother, Lorraine, was born in Scotland while the parents of his father were born in England, so he qualifies for all three nations.

Inman lived in Adelaide until he was 14 before shifting overseas on an under-15s scholarship with Newcastle.

He was called up to play for Scotland's under-19s national team 10 days ago ago and says while his childhood dream was to represent Australia, he had yet to hear anything from Socceroos scouts or officials.

"I did think if I can come over to Newcastle then the next step is to try to play for Australia," Inman said.

"But no one's been in contact with me or anything.

"My goals are playing for Newcastle's first team, and either playing for Scotland or Australia, maybe in a World Cup.

"At the minute playing for Scotland, it's a lot better.

"If you travel to Australia you've got to sit on a plane for 24 hours and you don't play matches that are as good.

"So, at the minute, it's Scotland."

Should Scotland select him as an under-21, it would lock Inman out of the Socceroos system.

doesnt deserve a cap just because hes at a premierleague club

Right .. but have you ever seen him play .. neither have I but some that have say at 17 he is as good as Kool was and BTW to be playing in an EPL side on a regular basic and picked to play for Scotland at 17 says he must have something going for him.

I have heard Inman is a very classy player ... very hard to decide if we should have a friendly to cap a number of players ..

Or should we let him go... Harry was capped at 17 because England wanted to cap him in a full international... He is being chased by both Australia and Scotland ...

Should BB go over and talk to him and  some of the other fringe  players ... I am not sure of the answer or maybe even the question ...

http://www.thesun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/3076040/Brad-Inman-in-Billy-Starks-Under-21-squad.html

BILLY STARK always planned to play Brad Inman in his Under-21s - now he hopes it will help Scotland keep him.

The Adelaide-born ace, 18, whose mum Lorraine is from Glasgow, wins his first call-up after starring for Newcastle U-19s.

He is in Stark's squad for the August 11 friendly with Sweden - but the Socceroos want him and he can switch nations until he lands a full cap.

Stark said: "I wasn't too long in the job when I was alerted that Brad had a Scots mum, English father and was born in Australia.

"He has options but I was immediately impressed with him. He's cultured in midfield and Newcastle rate him highly.

"He's been on the bench once or twice for the first team and played often for us at 19s. I always felt he would progress.

"Australia are chasing him quite hard and have been for quite a while.

"Hopefully he's had an enjoyable experience with us and that's all you can give him.

We've tried to do everything properly but FIFA rules mean he can change as long as he's not played at full international level.

"He certainly impressed me the way he can take and pass a ball. He puts his foot in and does pretty much most things in the middle of the park.

"He's taking steps at the moment and it's good to get him in the 21s."

Inman is joined in the squad by Liverpool new boy Danny Wilson, and the ex-Ranger has yet to pull on a 21s jersey.
