Apart from us, results went our way this weekend so now looms a massive, absolute humdinger of a game.

Bus, car, train, f**king walk, get there by any means you can. 3 points here and we are right back in the race for a top 2 finish.

Fire the f**k up - possible top 2 for us, consign the scum to another week as the worst football club in Australia AND New Zealand.

It's not the people on here you need to worry about......it's the part timers/hangers on that have gone missing this season.

Should we all turn up with wooden spoons in hand as a Christmas gift to the scum?

How many were you thinking? And would we just wave them at the Scummers or actually go over to The Squadron and hand them to them?

I was only joking folks, I can't make the game due to prior family arrangements (missus insists), and the season ain't over yet -  the scum may not end up as last.

Mariners to train on Christmas Day
By Chris Wilson

December 21

THE Central Coast Mariners have had to cancel a Christmas Day camp in Newcastle because there's no room at the inn.

But Mariners players have voted to train on Christmas Day, showing their desperation to keep their A-League campaign on track.

Central Coast play the Jets on Boxing Day and, such is the importance of the match to their finals hopes, the Mariners planned to travel to Newcastle on Christmas Day and go into camp.

But most accommodation in Newcastle is booked out and no hotels were prepared to give the club a late check-out for their 8pm kick-off.

The Mariners will now train in Gosford on Christmas Day and travel to Newcastle on game day.

"We spoke to the players and they were all keen on it (training Christmas Day), just to get the Christmas pud out of their bellies,'' said Mariners coach Lawrie McKinna.

"Every game's pivotal for us now, we can't get to a game and not be prepared.''

Following Friday's 1-0 loss to the Wellington Phoenix, the Mariners are in danger of dropping out of the A-League's top four. Sydney FC could knock them to fifth with a win over Perth today.

They could have approached the halls of residence at Newcastle Uni. No students there and they would have awesome facilities.

Form goes out the window in derbies. But let's get to the nitty gritty here.

Friday's loss was deflating because I thought the lads had the momentum from the Sydney game to kick on and consolidate in the top four. And fortunately, other results on the weekend were favourable to the Mariners, thus preserving a top four place. It also underlines what's characterised the league this season so far- very few teams have been able to run into any kind of consistent form, and Adelaide United are no doubt licking themselves at their position looking even better whilst away in Japan.

Newcastle will go into this game with confidence, because they have performed really well in the last two games and their win over Melbourne was well-deserved. However, those two games are fixtures which the Jets tend to do well in- Queensland away and Melbourne at home- and as I said at the start, the form book goes out the window in a game like this.

There MUST be a major improvement in performances, compared with the Wellington defeat, not just in the derby but for the remainder of the season. With few teams finding real consistency at the moment, it's likely to be a close shave in the hunt for a finals place.
