442 Says:

BRAZILIAN defender Roque Junior and fellow countryman Denilson could be playing in the A-League next season.  The pair have received encouraging reports about the A-League from fellow Brazilian Juninho and Romario and are said to be interested in continuing their careers in Australia

Junior, 32, currently plays for Palmerias in Brazil after signing from Qatari side Al-Rayyan last year.  He has played for Bayer Leverkusen, Leeds United and AC Milan, where he won the 2003 UEFA Champions League.

Junior was also part of the victorious 2002 World Cup Brazilian team.
Denilson Oliveira Araujo, 31, was another player in the 2002 World Cup for Brazil. The left winger has had stints at Real Betis and Bordeaux, and most recently at Palmeiras with Junior.

Another motivator for the duo was the signing of Robbie Fowler to North Queensland Fury. Fowler and Junior crossed paths at Leeds in 2003.
"Players of the calibre of Roque Junior and Denilson can only add credibility and spectacle to our A League," said John Denison, Director of Entourage Football, the company representing the Brazilians in Australia.

Wiki says:

Jos Vtor Roque Jr. (born August 31, 1976 in Santa Rita do Sapuca) more commonly known as Roque Jnior, is a Brazilian football defender. He has won 48 caps for Brazil and was part of the winning squad at the 2002 World Cup.

Club career

He has played for So Jos, Palmeiras, A.C. Milan, Leeds United F.C., A.C. Siena, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and MSV Duisburg. His greatest success in club football came with playing for A.C. Milan, with whom he won the 2003 UEFA Champions League. Although successful on the international stage for Brazil, he did not make it into the Brazilian squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup due to injury. He is devoted to helping So Jos Esporte Clube's youth players with a project called "Projeto Primeira Camisa" in English "Project First Jersey".[1]

His loan spell at Leeds was extremely mixed. He played 7 games for the club, during which they conceded 24 goals. He also was sent off on his home debut against Birmingham City. However, he did score two goals in a Worthington Cup game against Manchester United (Leeds lost 3-2).

Oh dear.

Did anyone EVER see him at Leeds?

We hammered them 4-0 in a season when we were, frankly, awful and only survived because the bottom three were worse. Roque Junior was unbelievably AWFUL, getting cut apart by Duncan Ferguson and James McFadden. And the same thing happened when he came up against Paul Dickov when a similarly bad Leicester team hammered them 4-0.

Oh dear,

Did you see Wilkinson this year? And your whinging at RoQue Junior a WC winner coming to the league. ::) :naughty:

Still pretty exciting, expecially if Denilson and Roque come. Saw this on the 442 website as well and the picture has one of them (not too sure which one it is) in a Sao Paulo FC shirt. Aren't we in partnership with them? Could maybe put us as a front runner... hopefully!

Shouldnt this thread be in the A league transfers and rumours?

I doubt Denilson would be up to it anymore, he's been released from his last "big" club, and has never lived up to the hype that followed him to Real Betis.
