Good to see Neil Kilkenny and David Williams in there, hope they make the cut. Would have thought Rose would have made it in before Ollie but im happy either way. I guess alot of these newer players still wont make it past Garcia and Valeri and the rest of the old guard though.

Holger looking to lock in Gulum after he didn't play for the Turks?

too many players picked on reputation- what have north or beauchamp done to make this squad?
50 players means almost every overseas player who plays semi regularly is in.
also why bother including 7 goalkeepers?? too many- the 7th best keeper in a country is never gonna play for the national team.
obviously there will be promising selection when so many of the countries pro footballers are included!

I think Josh Rose can count himself unlucky - how did Jason Davidson get in? He wasn't good enough to start for Aus Asia under 19s, being kept out by Mark Warren who is understudy to Rose for CCM. And Rose has has been in outstanding form for us.

On Jason D, can he play for 2 countries?

If the Asian Cup squad must come from this 50 then I understand why 7 were chosen. Shit happens.

asian cup squad has to have 3 keepers. most likely only 1 will play. put kevin rudd as the third keeper and it wouldnt make a difference.
aside from that it would have to be a freak coincidence for even 2, let alone 4 of those keepers to be unavailable. fairly sure the asian cup squad doesnt have to come from these players anyway?- osieck didnt even want this list published.
just too many players on the list who arent good enough to be (or shouldnt be) representing australia on an international level.

1. Players in Asian Cup MUST come from this list of 50 - to be reduced to 23 before Cup.
2. Not up to Osiek, the list is an AFC requirement - they can, should and did publish it.
3. That an argument that can be made with any team list, no matter how short or long.

You make an interesting point; the answer is I don't know but he has about half a dozen countries in his blood...but he has never ever been quoted as wanting to play for any one else but Australia.
