For the love of Mary ... the TerrOR are at it again ..

From no less than Phil Rothfield and Rebecca Wilson...

From the Sunday TerrOR ... just gives me the shits ... excuse me I thr it was FFA who organised matches not the coach .. and did not Croatia fall through ...

From the filthy raggg  ... the lead story no less...

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/pims-parting-snub-for-all-sydney-fans/story-e6freye0-1225832582950

COACH Pim Verbeek has robbed Sydney fans of the opportunity of farewelling the Socceroos in Sydney before leaving for the World Cup in South Africa.

ANZ Stadium at Homebush had been tentatively booked for the weekend of May 22-23 for the Socceroos to play the New Zealand All Whites in a game that would have raised $3 million for Australian soccer. In a further sign that the coach has even more influence than Ben Buckley or Frank Lowy, Verbeek vetoed the game because he didn't want his stars suffering any bumps or bruises.

All the Socceroos stars will be in Australia at the time for a training camp before leaving for South Africa, and the Kiwis were keen for the game to go ahead. A crowd of 60,000 would have raised $3 million in gate takings for Australian soccer at a time when the code is increasing costs every season for juniors to play the game.

For the match that had been agreed to be in Maaaaaahlbourne by the FFA (we get playoffs/the match where we qualify for the WC, they get the farewells) and which *is* being held in Melbourne, likely to be in front of 95,000 people.

The two of them can shut the fuck up.

Costs rise on inputs for local football - grounds, insurance, gear and referees - these increases are passed on. Shock horror.

Meanwhile to hang on to what little junior participation they have and due to the fact they have no international scene to pay for, NRL and AFL essentially fund all fees for their juniors with their ludicrous TV deals.  Have heard several ads for NRL junior clubs as having 0 fees, as well as giving all players free shorts and shirts.

Not to mention the various 'levies' we pay. Why do FNSW take a slice for providing F*** All, and why are we still paying $$$ to FFA as part of our CCF registrations? I thimk it's about $9 for a Jnr and double that for a Snr .... anyone tell me?

That's been the way since Adam was a boy. They have always funded juniors in one form or another with elite level dollars. Not the reverse. Since every club in the past was a community based organisation, it's purpose was to invest back into it's community, not bleed them for funds to support the top of the tree. Isn't that the basic principle and purpose of community sport?  You can only wish football had the same attitude, but we all know it never will.

I suspect the number of International teams that football has to fund may have something to do with it.
Exactly. We've got at least 5 national teams to be flown all over Asia. We've also got things like three national leagues that are still staggeringly revenue negative. Until/unless we get a massive TV deal that removes the need for bottom up levies that's what we're stuck with unless we're to give up the elite side entirely.

I don't begrudge the FFA their small slice - but FNSW seems to take a whopping slice for bugger all.
