Can anyone guess the purpose of this, other than wanting their finger in all parts of everyone's pie?

FFA Takes Back The Pre-Season
May 20 2010 17:42
EXCLUSIVE: The FFA will schedule two pre-season games for each A-League club in a move that hands back some control of the off-season agenda to the governing body.
It's understood an email has been sent out to A-League clubs in recent days outlining the decision with the FFA set to announce the games in the coming weeks.
In 2009, following four editions of the official Pre-Season Cup, the FFA handed back scheduling of pre-season games to A-League clubs.
The decision was designed to give the A-League clubs a measure of control over their pre-season programme. It was also recognition that A-League clubs vary in their stages of preparation for each new season.
In particular, this helped clubs who'd played in the Asian Champions League. And for some, like Perth Glory, it cut down on the travel factor ahead of the new season.
However, the FFA now want to regain some of that control by enforcing two pre-season friendlies for each club ahead of the new season kicking off in week one of August.
It's believed one of these FFA scheduled games will be Heart versus Jets in Melbourne, although that is yet to be confirmed.
