No regrets for Rose

If circumstances had permitted, Central Coast revelation Josh Rose could have been sporting the white colours of Gold Coast in Saturday night's A-League preliminary final.
But the left-back has no regrets after emerging as a driving force behind the Mariners' title charge upon his return to the A-League.
Rose trained with the Gold Coast squad last year after returning from four years playing in Romania in a bid to keep fit as he looked to secure a spot at an A-League club.
While the Rockhampton-born defender ideally wanted to stay in his native Queensland, Gold Coast coach Miron Bleiberg said the club did not have the funds to sign the 29-year-old.
Not that Rose looks back with anger, especially after emerging as arguably the form left back in the league under Graham Arnold.
"Obviously the wife would have preferred to stay in Queensland but as it turned out they (Queensland clubs) didn't have the space or their left sides were pretty much built up," Rose said.
"So it sort of forced me to move to Central Coast which has turned out alright in the end."
Rose's performances in defence and attack are a key factor in the Mariners' impressive season, but he's not looking to rub it in ahead of the do-or-die Bluetongue Stadium clash.
"Miron's probably happy with what he's got," Rose said.
"That's just part and parcel of the game, I've come here and the style Arnie's played this year it's suited me well, so I'm very happy with the move."
Bleiberg revealed he was close to signing Rose at Brisbane Roar in the first two seasons of the A-League when he played as a striker.
"When I finally rang to sign him and he already decided to go to Romania then he converted to left fullback which he is now and he was very good," Bleiberg said.
"... When he came back he trained with us and I wanted to sign him but he came late in the pre-season, we didn't have any more money.
"We both agree that I wanted him and he wanted to stay, but he has to make his living too and then came the offer from the Mariners.
"... He was always a striker and not a bad striker but in my opinion there was something missing.
"Now he's a left fullback, I wish I had him.
"Unfortunately I have to play against him."
