This is for the civil exchange of ideas, not abuse.

Please dont open this thread if you find opposing views challenging. I dont recommend this thread for anyone who advocated for the closure of the previous political thread or who argued against political discussion having a place on this website. You clearly wont be happy here.

I also dont recommend this thread for the minority of users who triggered the closure of the previous political thread with offensive comments. Your contributions may be insightful but are unwanted if they are abusive.

In the previous thread we [most of us anyway] managed to civilly exchange ideas on important issues of the day such as Marriage Equality, elections and the Voice.

If you think that this thread may not for you, seek advice from a Moderator on how to ignore posts from members that you dont wish to see, how to avoid alert notifications relating to this thread and of course you can simply just not open this one.

Lets play nicely in the sandpit so that those of us who find political discussion interesting can continue to do so.

With Trump soon to be President of the US and a Federal election in the near future times will be interesting.

For those wondering why the politics thread was locked, this is a perfect example. I asked for things to stay civil – not to stop posting or sharing opinions, just to cool it with the personal attacks – and this is the kind of response I got.

I’m not here to police adults, but if private conversations don’t get the message across, the threads will stay locked. If you disagree with moderation, I'm open to feedback, but I’m not wasting time arguing about basic decency.

id suggest people should have a reason for rejecting the greatest health boon of the 20th century .
