MOURINHO KEEN ON UNITED JOB

Inter coach Jose Mourinho has admitted that he expects to be considered when it comes to choosing Sir Alex Ferguson's successor at Manchester United.

The pair go head-to-head on Wednesday for the UEFA Champions League last-16 second leg with the score locked at 0-0.

The self proclaimed 'Special One' has endured a turbulent relationship with the Italian press since arriving at the San Siro last summer and question marks remain over his future in Serie A.

With Ferguson 67 years old the day when he finally decides to retire is getting closer and the former Chelsea boss believes that he is the man for the job.

"I have big jobs left in me that is for sure, but I can't commit to which ones," he told the News of the World.

"If you want me to rule out ever being Manchester United manager I can't. Special clubs need special managers so in theory it could work.

"But nobody knows what the future is in football.

"The England national team wanted me as coach and that is the biggest job in England, so I am sure when Sir Alex retires they will look at the best managers in the world and I certainly fall into that category.

"How much time I can't say, Sir Alex doesn't look like he is ready to stop. But when you are managing a winning team you don't want to stop.

"And if you have health then there is no reason to."

There is no doubting the Portuguese's ability as a manager having succeeded in his homeland and England but his more substance over style approach would not fit with the Old Trafford football mantra.

However, it seems the ex-Porto boss will have to wait for Ferguson to vacate the United hotseat with the Scot showing no signs of letting up.

"You might have to carry me out. I'm not even thinking about retiring," the Red Devils boss said this week.

More uncertainty surrounded Mourinho's future at Inter when he failed to confirm he would remain at the club at the end of the season.

"In another 86 days I will leave Italy and go on holiday. Will I still be the coach of Inter? In football you never know."

That cracks me up.

How long do people think Mr Alex has left in him? Is 2012 when he is retiring? Ie the end of his current contract? Or announced or something?

If he wins all the silverwear possible this season will he go out on top?

Or will he stay long enough to break Liverpools record?

He'll definitely stay to break the record - his hatred of all things Liverpool is quite legendary.....

Liverpool's English record of all time domestic titles...... currently stands at 18.  Manchester United have 17 (soon to be 18).

Equalling the record will be amazing, breaking it will be sensational.
