Mark Bosnich was guest speaker at the Newcastle KB United 35th Anniversary reunion lunch today. In front of 160 guests at the Duke of Wellington hotel he stated that the Mariners were the quality team of the A-League this year and his tip to take out the Premiership and Championship. He also warned that 'Sydney' (didn't specify which Club) in particular had an excellent chance to cause an upset in the sudden death qualification rounds.
In other important football news. Mark was asked asked about his hair replacement rumours and confirmed that he was approached via his agent by a hair fusion business to promote their technique. He said that it involved shaving his head for the promotion, but since then his natural hair has returned.
As expected, Mark was an excellent compare for the event, and didn't hold back on his views on football and his experiences with the game.
Among others former KB United players and officials, Ray Baartz was interviewed about the Uruguay v Australia 'friendly' match in 1974 that ended his career. In an emotional response he outlined how he was 'karate chopped' in the neck during the game. He had the audience captivated and received a long standing ovation at the end.
KB United players Craig Mason, David Jones and Kenny Boden interviewed each other for some very funny stories. But the funniest of the afternoon was David Lowe who let a few skeletons out of the closet about the team's social life during their KB years.
