Sydney FC's Kofi Danning nominated for Young Footballer of the Year award
September 01, 2009 Good news keeps coming for Sydney FC's Kofi Danning who has won the first nomination for the A-League's Young Footballer of the Year award.
Danning was voted the most outstanding player aged under 21 from the four rounds played in August as the 18-year-old Ghana-born striker helped his unbeaten team to the top of the ladder with three wins and a draw.
It caps a big month for Danning who was recently given the green light by football's governing body FIFA to be eligible to play for his adopted country Australia, starting with this month's Under-20 World Cup in Egypt.
The six nominees chosen through the season are being selected by an FFA-assembled panel including Young Socceroos coach Jan Versliejen and Fox Sports commentator Andy Harper.
