IMO this deserves a thread all of it's own Harry is thinking of coming home... Damm we just appointed GA ... my understanding is H does not think to much of GA...

If true what great news it would either be SFC, Rovers or Us if he lives in Palm Beach as the article indicates... Short boat trip across the creek and Bluetounge awaits..

Mouth watering while he is still playing as good as he is.... OHHHHHHHH Dream Dream Dream...

BTW please note the date of the article ... me thinks either a date mistake or has got through before they wanted...

Harry Kewell wants home ground advantage

SOCCER star Harry Kewell has started looking for a new home in Sydney, with a view to relocating his family to Australia next year.

The upmarket Sydney suburb of Palm Beach is rumoured to be the frontrunner as his new homebase.

The Socceroo and his wife, British actress Sheree Murphy, spent last week in Australia having Kewell's groin injury assessed by Sydney specialists.

"He wants some land for his kids to run about on," a friend of Kewell's said yesterday.

"He and Sheree went up to (Palm Beach) and loved it up there. They also had a bit of a look at Seaforth and Castlecrag, and think those areas are beautiful, too."

Kewell, who is focused on playing for the Socceroos at the World Cup in June, has a home in Manchester, England, and

a base in Istanbul, Turkey, where he plays for Galatasaray, but that contract is shortly up for renewal.

His two eldest children were not with the couple during their brief trip to Sydney.

Nine-year-old son Taylor and Ruby, 6, remained at home in school in Britain. Only 22-month-old Matilda accompanied her parents.

Murphy, who has starred in British soaps Emmerdale and Hollyoaks, is believed to be keen to join an Australian soap "like Home and Away or Neighbours".

"She enjoys her work and thinks it would be a dream come true to get a job here doing what she loves, acting," the source said.

Property consultants told Kewell the market had still not bottomed and advised him to hold on to his money

Western Sydney is a huge area and in many parts it is football only... home to Eight former NSL clubs five associations and almost 100, 000 registered players... It has Euro Snobs, Old NSL types, New Bandwagoners, old soccer, new football many old ethnic clubs who still play to this day as they did pre Crawford...

Harry is about the only name who could unite these many tribes... if he could give two good years IMO it would change football in Australia ... Assuming he plays for the Rovers he could do the impossible he could unite the tribes behind one club and in doing so make that club the biggest club in Australia of any sport...

and add '000s to the gate at every away game too
it would be better than the culina and fowler affect combined, squared etc.
So many fans dont know fowler, but if there is one name the basic aussie fan knows....it has to be Kewell.
Palmer would so dump Culina to the curb for Kewell...would LOVE to see that happen (wont though)(the loser deserves that!)

Scenario One

Harry stays overseas.

Scenario Two

If he comes back next year I think Rovers are a shoe-in.

Scenario Three

If he comes back this year and lives in Palm Beach the only real choices are SFC and us. Didn't he have a fall out with SFC when he was tied up with the Sydney Blues bid? Didn't he have a run-in with GA after the Asian Cup? Both have problems - unlikely to happen.

Scenario Four

Harry invests in youth development (hopefullly via Mariner's COE and PT's other academy). Harry has expressed a wish to invest in youth development before, both during the Sydney Blues bid and again about 18 months ago.

BTW - scenario 4 does not preclude any of scenarios 1-3.
