Round 7 of the A-League starts in Adelaide this weekend when the Reds host the Mariners in potentially the game of the season so far. Both teams come off comfortable wins last start and the winner of this fixture will reach the top of the table for at least a night. Vidmar has the added pressure of Champions League football mid-week following this clash and could play with his squad. Whilst the Mariners are getting back to full strenght and scoring a lot of goals early in the season. Kick-off Friday 8pm EST, NYL-5.15 EST.
Game 2- The 2 semi finalist from last season renew their rivally this weekend when Sydney FC host Queensland. Both teams showed a reversal in form in Round 6 with Sydney losing to the last place Wellington side whilst the QLD Roar continued there great away form in defeating Melbourne. Always a lack of goals in this fixture and cannot see this changing this weekend, but remembering the Roar are dangerous away from home. Kick- off Saturday 7pm EST, NYL- 4.15 EST
Game 3- The competition leaders the Melbourne Victory host the out of sorts Perth Glory at the Telstra Dome. Melbourne have made there lives more difficult in recent weeks with receiving 3 red cards. With Archie Thompson causing havoc for all teams. Whilst Perth Glory have been woeful. They leak goals, the midfield is non-existant and long balls to Dadi dont work all the time. Perth also need to sort out the goalkeeping situation and young Velaphi deserving of his chance. Kick-off Sunday 4pm EDST, NYL Saturday 5pm EST.
Game 4- Sees the former Champions in the Newcastle Jets playing last start winners the Wellington Phoenix at EAS. The big question will be whether GVE can field a team with the squad having so many injuries to key players. Newcastle are awlful this season and they are not playing the same style of football which saw them win the Grand Final last season. Wellington played with a lot more spirit last week and fully deserved their victory. Kick-off Monday 3pm EDST.
Tips- Bulldogmariner
Central Coast- Will be a quality fixture but the way the Mariners are playing they win
Draw- Always a tough game with minimum goals see no different here
Melbourne- They win and just not hoping it becomes a cricket score at the Dome.
Wellington- This will be 3 big points for Herbert. Jets are in Turmoil.
