This would be GREAT news for the A-League competition. I sincerely hope the Fury are successful in their bid for this one-time great of the EPL.
North Queensland Fury considering Robbie Fowler as marquee signing

FORMER England international Robbie Fowler is being courted by ambitious A-League expansion club North Queensland Fury.
Fowler, the former Liverpool striker who scored 120 goals in 236 matches for the Reds, will fly to Queensland later this month to meet Fury coach Ian Ferguson.
"He has agreed to catch up in Townsville for a few days and obviously we will be talking about football," Ferguson said.
"We're looking for a marquee player and Robbie easily fits that position in any A-League football club.
"His record speaks for itself. He's a pure goal scorer who would lift the profile of football in this country to a new level if he decided to play in the A-League."
Fowler, 33, was recently released by Blackburn Rovers after a failed stint at Ewood Park.
Lacking condition, he failed to score in three starts and three substitute appearances.
In a sometimes controversial career, Fowler has also spent time at Leeds United, Manchester City and Cardiff City, and at one stage considered joining Sydney FC.
In 1999, he was banned for four matches and fined more than $60,000 for mimicking cocaine-taking when he "snorted" the white line markings of the penalty area during a Merseyside derby at Anfield.
While Fowler seems to be the Fury's preferred marquee option, the club is still in talks with Socceroo utility Scott Chipperfield.
Earlier this week, the Fury added goalkeeper Justin Pasfield to their squad and finally confirmed the signing of Sydney defender Beau Busch.
